View Full Version : Starhub's PC Show 2009 Lenovo S10 Promotion
shapolang
13-06-2009, 07:00 PM
Main points of the issue :
1. In the official newspaper ads for the promotion, all the main specifications for the netbook were mentioned except battery type/duration which was missing.
2. In the official brochure distributed in the PC Show by StarHub promoters for the promotion, all the main specifications for the netbook were mentioned except battery type/duration which was missing.
3. In description panel shown beside the display set of the Lenovo S10 inside StarHub's booth, all the main specifications for the netbook were mentioned except battery type/duration which was missing.
4. The display set shows that it was using a 6-cell battery (visually identifiable by its protuding profile compared to the 3-cell).
5. Some Starhub promoters told visitors with verbal assurance that the promotion comes with a 6-cell battery.
6. StarHub advertised the worth of the Lenovo S10 netbook by itself as SGD$699. Lenovo was selling the same model around the same price (if not lower) that comes default with a 6-cell battery.
7. No mentioning of any specifications of the Lenovo S10 in the official Acknowledgement Letter which is given to the subscriber to collect their free netbook in July 2009..
Update 11 (23/06/09):
I have cancelled my contract. Read #265 for more info :
http://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/showpost.php?p=38563381&postcount=265
Update 10 (19/06/09):
Reply from StarHub to WangZaXiaoManTou via email (emphasis mine)
"We wish to advise that the Lenovo comes with a 3 cell battery. We are
sorry for the confusion, as we do not have the 3 cell batteries yet,
the 6 cells was used for display purposes only.
The specification of the laptop is the same as what Lenovo is
selling, except for the battery. The Usual Price of the retail model
with the 6-cell battery is $799, whereas we listed our unit's worth
as $699 as per recommended by Lenovo. We are sorry any confusion
caused."
Update 9 (19/06/09):
http://www.tinyurl.com/starhub
With the above easy to remember and verbalise link to this thread, you can spread the word even faster (e.g. when talking to starhub CSOs).
Update 8 (19/06/09):
The price difference should be $239 (6-cell) - $155 (3-cell) = $84 according to the following Lenovo web page :
http://shopap.lenovo.com/SEUILibrary/controller/e/sgweb/LenovoPortal/en_SG/catalog.workflow:show-category-with-items?category-id=4364BD0F20B94413B5AD6E684D2848E9&show-page=6
This thread is searchable on google now. Have fun googling the following terms and see how high this thread ranks :s13: :
- starhub promotion
- starhub pc show
- starhub lenovo
Update 7 (17/06/09):
From flywheel's feedback, StarHub seems to be sending email to subscribers stating 3-cell and pushing back the collection date to 15 July.
Update 6 (16/06/09):
Just checked at https://rollout.opennet.com.sg/ (OpenNet). My block will be wired (optic fibre) in Jan - Mar next year.
So I am seriously considering voiding my contract now, sign a 6 month M1 broadband contract, then jump ship to the best Retail Service Provider in first quarter 2010 if the service is ready by then. If not, keep recontracting in 6 month periods. No matter how late the service starts, I doubt it will take more than 2 years more now.
If tied down to 24 months Starhub (or Singet) contract now means I *may* miss out on opennet for at least 1.5 years (assuming opennet service begins relatively quickly after the cables are laid).
I am thinking even in best case scenario StarHub gives me a 6-cell, I *may* still void the contract because of this! Haha. What an interesting turn of events.
Shall continue to monitor his next gen nbn development.
Update 5 (16/06/09):
The 6-cell battery is worth $129 according to Lenovo Singapore (see image below).
A 3-cell (half the capacity of 6-cell) should be roughly worth half of $129 = $64.50
So when you trying to decide what is a reasonable settlement with StarHub regarding this issue, you may consider the following: (assuming StarHub refuses/can't get the 3-cell replace with a 6-cell without any condition) :
1. Void the 2-year contract
2. FREE upgrade to 2 GB RAM memory + FREE Lenovo sleeve case
3. One month FREE MaxOnline Express broadband (worth $59.92 roughly equivalent to $64.50)
4. One more year of warranty (worth $49 roughly equivalent to $64.50)
5. Upgrade to Lenovo external multiburn dvd drive (worth 169) for $104 ($169 - $64.50)
The monetary worth of the free gifts should not be considered as the "Free worth $699" or "Worth $699" graphic is located only beside the Lenovo S10 graphic. If graphics of $30 gift voucher, Norton Internet Security 2009, Modems, ...etc were included and "Total Worth $699" was used, then it is a separate issue.

Update 4 (16/06/09):
Now that update 3 has proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that it is a 3-cell. the second action we should take now is this:
Speak to a StarHub CSO in person (via service centre) and/or call them on the phone. This will allow StarHub to monitor and access the situation and act accordingly.
Phone conversations may be recorded. Please stay cool, firm and patient and don't intimdate anyone. Afterall, CSOs are just messengers to *help us* relay our messages and concerns to higher authorities.
Keep us updated here after you have done so. Please leave out names and/or branches of CSOs, centre managers and personal details about yourself.
Update 3 (15/06/09):
The following image is the final prove that it is a 3-cell (at least as of now. but there *may or may not* be changes from now till collection date depending the turn of events that *may or may not* happen after this prove has been shown)
1. I am the owner of this original document and it is in my possession now.
2. It was given to me by a Starhub Customer Service Officer in a Starhub Customer Service Centre in person after our discussion about the issue.
3. I have blacked-out all the names to protect myself and the manager and the customer service officer (cso).
4. Please read it carefully before deciding on any course of action (if any) base on it.
5. I am not responsible for any consequences as a result of this thread and/or the use or misuse of this image.
6. As of now, I only want to say this void of committment agreement *option* is offered to me. You may or may not get the same offer which is base on a case-by-case basis by StarHub.
7. For those who are trying to get the same proposal/offer from Starhub. this is what I suggest :
- I personally don't think the cso, the branch manager and perhaps even the dept providing this document should be blamed for this situation. They are most probably just carrying out orders.
- So just be firm, polite, patient and explain the situation clearly to the cso in person and explore your options. No need to loose your cool which does not help anyone or the situation at hand.
8. I did not ask (forgot to as it was not that important at that point in time) whether I need to return the $30 voucher, the Norton Internet Security 2009 and other freebies *IF* i decide to void this committment.

Update 2 (15/6/09):
this is the first action that we should take :
** Get hold of the document stating it is a 3-cell or 6-cell **
so now, you should try to approach the nearest starhub outlet and kindly request for this document. bring along your redemption letter as prove of your sincerity to find out.
bring along a good camera (or camera phone) to take picture of that document in case starhub is not able to print/photocopy a copy for you.
if the customer officer is holding a copy of the document and reading it to you that it is stated in that document it is a 3-cell/6-cell, but does not allow you to take a picture or copy, ask him/her for that document's full reference number, take note of it together with the officer's name and keep your queue ticket as prove of being there. then inform us here about your finding.
if any starhub promoters is reading this, please comment or better still, scan a copy of that document and post it here if possible.
let us see how fast we can get hold of this document before deciding our next course of action. okie dokie?
================================================
Update 1 (14/6/09):
For those with the s10 acknowledgement (redemption) letter, please turn it over and read item 24 and 25 in the terms and conditions (bold emphasis mine):
"24. In the event of a dispute, a customer's entitlement to participate and/or receive the offer is subjected ot the sole discretion and the final determination of StarHub."
"25. The free premium(s) is/are available on a first-come-first-serve basis and StarHub reserves the right to replace the brand and model of the premium(s) with other hardware(s) of equal or lower value."
I think it is quite safe to say that LEGALLY we have no case. Anyone who study/practice law please comment if you feel otherwise.

( Note to forum moderators : I know this thread by right should be in the special event pc show section. But the collection date for the promo is in July -- weeks after the pc show 2009 is over. So for continuity purposes to compile this list, I hope you will allow me to post this here. Thanks! )
**THIS IS NOT A PETITION !!**
Starhub's PC Show promotional offer of the Lenovo S10 netbook comes with a 3-cell battery (and not a 6-cell as heavily implied by omission in it's marketing).
If you have taken up Starhub's PC Show offer of the Lenovo S10 netbook and feel that you should be getting a 6-cell battery instead, please do this :
1. reply to this thread with the message "add me to this list".
2. state the date of collection as indicated in your letter
To add authenticity to your reply post, you may also to indicate which day during the PC Show you made the subscription, how long you have queued, what information/misinformation visually, verbally or otherwise that were presented to you. You may also add photos and images as evidence to prove your point.
Caution : Please do not reveal personal information when replying to this thread including the photo/picture evidences.
I am just gathering a list of people who will be collecting their S10 in July to discuss our options.
Regardless of the outcome of this thread, here are some potential positive means of utilising this compiled list :
1. Easier co-ordination of mass order of higher cell S10 battery and other accessories.
2. Social gathering and networking opportunities among S10 owners.
3. Technical support of potential S10 issues provided by people in this list., i.e. S10 owners helping other S10 owners.
Although initially this is about the battery issue, there may be other issues after we have collected our S10 (of course let's hope not). So collectively, we can make our voices heard more clearly and directly. We now have a 3-week head start. :s13:
My tele-conversation with the customer service officer regarding this issue was already recorded by Starhub. I am a loyal Starhub customer and hubber for many years. So I have no hidden agenda against Starhub.
If Starhub would like to contact me to find out more or update us about this issue, feel free to send me a private message in this forum and I will be glad to give you my contact details or call you directly at your convenience.
This is a listing specifically for Starhub's Lenovo S10 promotion during PC Show 2009. If you have issues with other Starhub promotion, please start your own thread.
** Disclaimer : I am not responsible for any consequences as a result of starting this thread. Reply at your own risk and responsibility. **

Knew that this promo dont not come with the free modem or dongle. And ask the staff abt the spec of the S10. Damx it. i was told it was a 6 cell as well.
There was a display white S10 on the cabinet and i actually ask the staff manning that area as well.
I feel kanna cheated if i going to get 3 cell.
Why isnt there black n white on the spec given by st*rHub

I went on the 2nd day. I was there at 11:20am and gotten everything done by 1pm. I saw the display set but further confirmed with the staff and had a verbal confirmation that it would be a 6-cell battery.
I would be collecting it on 8 July.

Was there the first day. Asked the staff, all confirmed is 6 cell (I am kiasu, I asked 3 staffs in total). Even the display set is 6 cell. If it is indeed a 3 cell that we will be getting, I believe that StarHub should really do something - although I know it is hard as no hard specs that we should be getting 6 cells.
I went there at 11:30am, gotten everything done by 1:30pm.
My collection date is 06 July.

Went on the 1st day and started to queue from 12:45pm, the entire process took more than 3.5hrs to complete. I didn't enquire about the battery assuming it will be the 6-cell one.
The other thing not so clear about this promo is the free mobile broadband, who would pay $99 for the dongle and $37.45 for the sim card when it only valid for 6mths?
Anyway, my collection date is on 6 July.

... I believe that StarHub should really do something - although I know it is hard as no hard specs that we should be getting 6 cells.
as of now, i believe LEGALLY we got no case, because whatever the sales promoter say, we are suppose to read the fineprint and have signed on it agreeing to all starhub's stated conditions.
so why still bother?
answer : if this issue gets strong public reaction, in the "court of human heart" and goodwill, Starhub may lose badly in that "court".
quick rough calculation. assuming it cost starhub $100 more to change to battery (actual monetary figure should be lower since they will be buying bulk from Lenovo).
4 show days x 300 subscribers x $100 = $120,000.
"Starhub has become one of Singapore's most innovative info-communications providers. ... ability to deliver unique integrated and converged services to all its customers. " (starhub's official company profile, source : starhub.com)
so the question for starhub to answer is this :
is starhub's good reputation worth more than $120K?
there many influencial international and local IT writers and bloggers. PC show is one the biggest IT show in singapore. if there is strong public reaction, the damage to reputation may not just be restricted to singapore alone. anyone still remember the ODEX saga? the ODEX hitler youtube spoof is still online i think. :s13:
should we give starhub more time to respond to this issue and wait until collection day? or make "some noise" so that starhub may revert their decision and have time to inform their suppliers to make changes (assuming the stock has not already arrived/manufactured)? please give your thoughts on this question. thanks!

StarHub error prompts online petition
By Aaron Tan, ZDNet Asia
Thursday, January 11, 2007 12:58 PM
SINGAPORE--A group of irate consumers have started an online petition calling for StarHub to honor promises it had made in a recent broadband marketing stint.
Last November, local telco StarHub ran a promotion offering customers a free HP Compaqhttp://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes/mag-glass_10x10.gif (http://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/showthread.php?p=38363313&posted=1#) Presario notebook (model V3131TU) when they signed up for a 28-month MaxOnline Premium or MaxOnline Ultimate (http://www.starhub.com/online/index.jsp) subscription plan. The promotion ended in December 2006.
Its marketing flyers had indicated that the laptops will come with Intel's wireless Centrino chip. However, when subscribers finally received their notebooks, they realized that their machines were not Centrino-certified, according to Alvin Lee, a StarHub customer who started the online petition (http://www.petitiononline.com/V3136TU/petition.html).
Instead, the laptops were equipped with wireless processors from Broadcom--not Intel--Lee said, adding that customers who signed up for the StarHub service were led to believe that their free notebooks would be Centrino-certified.
He said: "After speaking to staff at both StarHub [and HP], I am under the impression (http://www.petitiononline.com/V3136TU/petition.html) that neither party wishes to address the concerns of StarHub customers, nor make an exception to deliver what was impressed upon them as 'Intel Centrino Duo Mobile Technology' laptops."
The petition, which garnered 190 signatories at press time, called for StarHub to either replace the wireless Internet and Bluetooth adapters, or replace the affected notebooks with an equivalent notebook of the same value, or offer a full rebate or compensation to customers who want to return the laptop and cancel their MaxOnline contracts.
A spokesperson from StarHub told ZDNet Asia that the Centrino name and logo was inadvertently included in the technical specifications of the laptops, as listed in the advertising materials. She said that the telco and HP are offering an apology for the error.
"The original text should have read 'Intel Core Duo Mobile Technology' instead of 'Intel Centrino Duo Mobile Technology'", the spokesperson said. "We would like to highlight that this is an incorrect use of a branding term [for the wireless processor], and that HP assures us the laptops our customers are receiving have the same functionality and that all other details in the promotions are correct."
"So, the customer is largely getting what was advertised. In fact, the majority of the customers we have spoken to have accepted this," she said.
According to StarHub, only "a very small percentage" of customers have contacted StarHub or HP on this matter, and reconciliatory steps have been taken to resolve it.
"We have since contacted these customers who were satisfied with the explanation. We assure all our customers that StarHub and HP take their feedback seriously and are eager to address their concerns. Those customers who have further technical enquiries can contact HP at starhub.tech@hp.com (starhub.tech@hp.com)," the company spokesperson said.
The total value of the promotion, including pricing discounts and a free HP laptop, is worth more than S$2,000 (US$1,300). There are payable options available for customers to upgrade the specifications of the notebook in question, and most customers who signed up for the promotion have opted for the upgrade packages and have "accepted our apology and clarification", StarHub said.
"We will continue to work directly with any customer to address their needs on an individual basis," she said.
Legal perspective
According to Han Wah Teng, a lawyer at local law firm Keystone Law, consumers do have recourse against misrepresentations in Singapore.
"In the past [Digiland (http://www.zdnetasia.com/news/hardware/0,39042972,39175669,00.htm)] case, the vendor was not liable as the customers were aware of the mistakes when making the purchase. In most cases, this would have been hard for the vendor to prove," Han said.
On the other hand, Han added, in a case involving Raffles Town Club (RTC), customers convinced the presiding judge that they should be compensated for misrepresentations contained in brochures--although they were unable to back out of their obligation to buy the memberships. In the lawsuit, 4,895 members sued the RTC for misleading them into thinking the RTC was an exclusive club with 5,000 to 7,000 members when in reality, it had about 19,000 members.
For more information on possible remedies and other issues related to their purchasing rights, consumers can refer to the Consumer Protection (Free Trading) Act (http://app.mti.gov.sg/default.asp?id=565) which was enacted in 2004, according to Han.

Consumer Protection (Fair Trading) Act

4. What constitutes an unfair practice under the Act?
It is an unfair practice for a trader, in relation to a consumer transaction-
to do or say anything, or omit to do or say anything, if as a result a consumer might reasonably be deceived or misled;
to make a false claim;
to take advantage of a consumer if the trader knows or ought reasonably to know that the consumer
is not in a position to protect his own interests; or
is not reasonably able to understand the character, nature, language or effect of the transaction or any matter related to the transaction; or
to do any of the 20 unfair practices listed in the Second Schedule of the Act.
The trader should provide the consumer with all relevant and material information so as not to mislead the consumer. The consumer can then make an informed decision. Traders should review their business practices; in particular, what information they provide to consumers and how they convey information.

There is no fineprint for us in the first place. It's all through verbal confirmation and we gave them the benefit of doubt + the trust we have in them as they have been through a proper "briefing" by their supervisors on the specs.

yes. but i think the newspaper ad strongest due to its circulation numbers.

if it is a one shot continuous video take showing starhub booth then zooming into the display set showing the protuded battery, then different case. :s13:
i think i have a strategy in mind, the most important thing now is to spread the word to increase the list here. the longer the list, the higher chances of a successful outcome of the strategy. :s13:

Well could be my mistake (no thanks to the small print) but again the purchase of dongle should have been more clearly spell out or at least have the option of loaning the equipment to us.
Definately. It was no where printed on the advert unless I missed out some of the small prints.
Before I signed up, they even told me dongle and cable modem (for recontract, we will get 3000 points instead) is provided. Not till I got in queue and enquired again at the sales counter than all these beautiful tales got into ugly tales.
No dongle, no modem. So what the hell is StarHub trying to prove? Theie staffs are not well trained at all to answer all these standard questions from customers!

read the T&C clause 24 and 25 again.
end of the day, starhub CEO can even let you video record him telling you it is 6-cell. but clause 24 and 25 basically protects starhub all the way legally.
why? got dispute? sorry, our sole discretion and our judgement is final and you agreed to that when you signed up because i have your signature on paper.
refering to the centrio compaq laptop case, starhub even admitted to misprinting in the newspaper ads (which has more obvious evidence in this case). starhub just apologise for an error and did not replace the chip. 190 people also petitioned online, numerous articles published in ST and The New Paper and online tech sites.
end results? Starhub (and HP) refuse to replace the chip. nobody sue Starhub (or HP).

What 3000 points? There was no mention of this by any of the sales staffs. Why bother provide 'Free' mobile BB when one need to pay for this and that! Paying for SIM card I can understand but dongle as well? I rather they give free dongle then the useless NIS 2009 and $30 voucher!!!

That is their miscommunication error. There wasnt any of this sort of 3000 points for recontract and free modem for new subscribers for this promotion. But the sales standing around told me have when I asked.
So, as a precaution and knowing StarHub's style in the show, I decided to enquire again before I sign and true enough all these are all not true.
Yes, it does not make sense. Free Mobile Broadband but please purchase your own SIM Card and modem. This is as good as paying for the subscription. ($99 + $37.45)/24 is your monthly subscription for the Mobile Broadband.
StarHub misleading customers via advertisement and staffs? Yes, they are.

The previous case, it has hard evidence that the newspaper printing was Intel Centrino. This case, no signs of specs indicating that it is a 3 cell or 6 cell battery. This is the biggest difference.

hi kevin,
1. when the staff told you 6-cell, did he/she told you immediately without checking with anyone or any form?
2. was there a quota of 300 today? did you see promoters flashing the out-of-stock sign for s10?

Hi shapolang, I guess i was in the same queue today as kevin.
A staff by the name of Matthew serve me and told me that the batt is 6 cell.
There seems to be a quota of 300 but those behind also got a similar piece of form except without the number. Didn't really see the promoters flashing out-of-stock sign except that on the banner, they did paste a sticker saying fully redeemed.
I started queuing at 9:45am

I opted in despite having to pay for the SIM Card as I already had the Mobile Modem. Only thing fail to understand is they refuse to tie me to my MaxMobile scheme which is out of contract already.
It is still worthwhile for those who already have the modem. As even if you dont take the free mobile broadband, you are still paying the same price.

i just got a S10 today too.
queue at 10am till 6pm+!!!
the service and waiting time is horrible.
1. traffic control was bad. ppl cut queue inbtw.
2. totally have 4 stations to queue and wait!
- from outside till step 1 = queue (10-2pm)
- registration (step 1) = queue (2-4pm)
- filling in forms (step 2) = queue (4-5pm)
- collection (step 3) = queue (5-6pm) (would be even longer if i nv find the manager)
- lastly just to scan the paper before i can go, since i do not hv to pay = queue (6-6.15pm)
everything = queue.
pratically i can see all customers really wait till their face turn green!
there's even a customer who flare at the couter staff beside me, due to misleading adv by starhub and those staffs standing ard starhub booth (some 3000points thingy) as she waited 6hrs plus and heard a different side of story... after she left, the staff just gossip and badmouth about her infront of us and other customers. (what a service..totally disappointed by their service staff. staff name that attend to the customer = Cxxxxxxx)
as for the 6-cell battery. i very kaisu. i asked 4 staffs in total. (one near the demo set booth, one at the registration booth, one at the place i fill in my form, one manager whom i show displease to after 8hrs of queue) .. sadly i nv take dw their name.
i also have the guy serving me write down 6-cell on my redemption paper.

I spoke to a starhub guy while queuing up and he did mention to me it comes with a 6-cell battery. Did not really take note of the guy's name. I will be really pissed off if all I get is a 3-cell battery as oppose to what I have heard.

However i will take it that i will be having a 6-cell instead of a 3 cell because i asked each and every counter before i signup for the plan. else i dont see the point in having a contract when i can purchase at $499 6cell with nothing too.
FYI - i bought another S10 at HN too. i asked the staff about S10 3 cells, they told me it used to have but its very old model, mostly all selling 6cells now. doesnt worth much for 3cell. plus starhub actually quote $699 on their flyer which is the same as lenevo flyer quoting $699. lenovo staff also assume it would be 6cells batt after i compare 2 flyers with both starhub and lenovo sales staffs..

ok guys. thanks for the feedback. appreciate it.
this is the first action that we should take :
** Get hold of the document stating it is a 3-cell or 6-cell **
on hindsight, when the salesperson look at a document and then told me it's 3-cell, i should have request for a copy or take a picture of that document. but you can't really blame me for not being so alert after standing in a queue for more than 3 hours. :s13:
so now, you can try to approach the nearest starhub outlet and kindly request for this document. bring along your redemption letter as prove of your sincerity to find out.
bring along a good camera (or camera phone) to take picture of that document in case starhub is not able to print/photocopy a copy for you.
if the customer officer is holding a copy of the document and reading it to you that it is stated in that document it is a 3-cell/6-cell, but does not allow you to take a picture or copy, ask him/her for that document's full reference number, take note of it together with the officer's name and keep your queue ticket as prove of being there. then inform us here about your finding.
if any starhub promoters is reading this, please comment or better still, scan a copy of that document and post it here if possible.
let us see how fast we can get hold of this document before deciding our next course of action. okie dokie?

Went back to the show at 3rd days after seeing this forum to ask Starhub "super promoter" Different story all over the place. Some say 6 some say should be 6, some say 3 and many say dont know !!!
added. when is your collection date?

Just spoke to starhub...
seems that the info given to them(starhub) from Lenovo was wrong!
Really disappointed that such thing can happen.... And the most stupid thing is we spend 5hrs+/- there for something that is not worth it...
so i assume you also signed up for the s10 promo when you say "we"? :s13:
do you want to be added to this list? coz *IF* any starhub pple read this, they may only have time to see the first post and not the rest of the thread. :s13:

Thursday's crowd wasnt as strong as Friday, Saturday or Sunday i guess. And probably not much people are aware of have time to really queue for the promotion.
ic. make sense. also some people may want to wait one day and observe feedback first. :s13:

Honestly, feel that all this mishap could be avoided if SH:
1) Provide "Professional Education" to all their temps so tat pathetic customers like us could really get "REAL" information and not regretting our decision..
2) Ensure that Promotion Brochure vs Actual Promotion display set should tally so as to avoid confusion, and worst case fraud...
3) Lastly, BETTER Promo plsssss, not just for high end user but also considering the low end user..( it is a pain having to surf the net or visiting PC show for info but eventually having to convince myself to give SH one more chance in the next event....Patience do run out tho..agreed??
Let juz hope tt SH will do somethings about this, if not, in my frank opinion I will be seeing more & more hubbers joining the RED and ORANGE camp for the upcoming PC show...
Juz my 2cent worth of opinion

1. did starhub tell you why they need to call you back instead of giving you a reply/answer?

personally i dont recommend doing that now.
today is only the first working day after the pc show. let us give StarHub some more time to react to this situation and give them the benefit of the doubt which hopefully they will give us the benefit of the doubt in return.
for the next few days, please call or better still visit starhub and ask them about this 3-cell issue and ask them what are your options. try not to commit to them anything immediately on the spot yet. tell them you need sometime to consider.
i *guess* starhub is also monitoring the total number of calls/enquiries to decide their next course of action.
if you have not contact starhub about this, please do so so that collectively we have a higher chance of a favourable outcome.

if you phone got voice recorder, use it. since starhub will be recording also (by right they (or the voice machine) should say something like "your calls may be recorded to help us serve you better..."). so fair game.
if your phone cannot record and talk at same time, try using a landline on speaker mode and record it using your phone recorder (or dedicated voice recorder).

Actually come to think of it, is this promotion for the LENOVO S10 worth it?
the 8Mbps without gift cost $44.
the 8Mbps with mobile BB and gift cost $59
The mobile BB is useless and you got to pay $140 for the stick and modem..considered you are paying for the service. I asked the sales girl, and she has the cheek to say, "it's marketing...".
The gift actually cost $59-$44=$15*24month = $360.
so actually it means that you are buying the LENOVO S10 at a discount price only, and need to queue up for 4 hours, and wait up to 1 month to get the goods...plus maybe get a 3-cell version..
Afterall, is it worth all these hassles??

8. I did not ask whether I need to return the $30 voucher, the Norton Internet Security 2009 and other freebies *IF* i decide to void this committment.

================================================
Update 2 (15/6/09):
this is the first action that we should take :
** Get hold of the document stating it is a 3-cell or 6-cell **
so now, you should try to approach the nearest starhub outlet and kindly request for this document. bring along your redemption letter as prove of your sincerity to find out.
bring along a good camera (or camera phone) to take picture of that document in case starhub is not able to print/photocopy a copy for you.
if the customer officer is holding a copy of the document and reading it to you that it is stated in that document it is a 3-cell/6-cell, but does not allow you to take a picture or copy, ask him/her for that document's full reference number, take note of it together with the officer's name and keep your queue ticket as prove of being there. then inform us here about your finding.
if any starhub promoters is reading this, please comment or better still, scan a copy of that document and post it here if possible.
let us see how fast we can get hold of this document before deciding our next course of action. okie dokie?
================================================
==============================================================================================
Starhub's PC Show offer of the Lenovo S10 netbook is powered by a 3-cell battery (correct and verified information with Starhub customer service officer over the phone on 13/6/09).

My view is that all is not lost yet.
Yes the 2 clauses protect Starhub but I am almost certain Starhub will have clauses protecting itself in the HP Centrino case that happened 2 years ago.
Yet they offered apology to affected customers and took reconciliatory steps to resolve it.
Of course, the solution may still not be satisfactory but at least it wasn't a case of ignoring customers and doing nothing about it.
This case is similar to the previous case in that there may be misrepresentation (or omission) of important information (In the previous case there is no doubt, but in this case it is only a possibility).
What differs is that it is hard if not impossible to prove Starhub misrepresented the specifications of the S10 (promoters who misinformed customers that it was a 6-cell battery and the displayed 6-cell demo set).
I believe the ideal solution most affected customers want will be that Starhub replaces the 3-cell battery with a 6-cell one. So that is a goal customers should work towards to.
Alternatives may be:
1) Replace battery or purchase an additional 6-cell battery at a reasonable price.
2) Other additional freebies such as x-month(s) free subscription etc
3) Termination of contract
4) No action
Battery life (and it is directly related to the capacity of the battery) is an important specification in a mobile electronic device.
It is even more important in netbooks compared to notebooks since netbooks are designed to be more portable.
For a large Telco in singapore not to specify this in their promotions is rather disappointing.
More so in the fact that they have been offering notebooks/netbooks promotions for a few years now.
It is nice to see people like TS putting themselves forward to spread awareness of such issues and hopefully get satisfactory resolution for himself and also other affected customers.
I fully respect his call for fellow customers to seek peaceful resolution to this issue.
Be firm in your request for the ideal solution, but also should be prepared that it may not be offered.
CASE can also be consulted too.
Hopefully Starhub will listen to the concerns and opinions of its customers.
They really can't shirk all responsibilities just because they have those clauses which protect them in the T&C.
This issue happened simply because of the 'vagueness' of their promotion.
If customers cannot trust their promoters (albeit they may be part-timers) and demo sets, who can they trust?
Good luck for TS and all affected customers.
Hope you guys get a satisfactory resolution.

thanks for your encouragement. just trying to help. as i have mentioned elsewhere in this forum. this could very well be my last straw with SH.
update 5 was written after my conversation with the cso in person. i did not mention any of these alternative options to SH during that conversation.
in fact, i did not even suggest any alternative solution to the cso. i just wanted a black and white to confirm it is a 3-cell or 6-cell.
since in the process of the confirmation, the cso was kind and patient enough to request my side of the story, i explained accordingly to the best of my knowledge.
the cso, after consulting with the branch manager a few times, voluntarily offered me an option to terminate my contract.
this is an interesting point since *IF* SH (represented by the cso and the branch manager) feels it is absolutely 100% fair and right, why offer me anything without my requesting of it?

OpenNet to start installing fibre optic cables in homes, offices
By Valarie Tan, Channel NewsAsia | Posted: 16 June 2009 1950 hrs
SINGAPORE: Fibre optic cables for Singapore's new, ultra high-speed broadband network will be installed into homes and offices from September.
The company contracted to do the installation, OpenNet, will start sending out letters to homeowners from July.
Residents have three weeks to respond and installation is free.
Those who want it installed at a later date will have to pay S$220 for apartments and S$450 for landed properties.
OpenNet will start installation in four clusters - Macpherson/Braddell, Jurong, Middle Road, and Geylang/Eunos.
It expects work to be completed in 56,000 homes and 1,000 office buildings within the first month, and 60 per cent of all homes and offices by 2010, and 95 per cent by 2012.
You can log on to www.opennet.com.sg to check when OpenNet is installing the cables in your home or office.
OpenNet says it expects to invest over S$100 million in total to complete the project, on top of the S$750 million funding from the Infocomm Development Authority (IDA).

Was told in the Comm Asia show, the price package is going to be around the same as exiting plan. Just that you will get higher speed. 100M initially I think.

thanks for the feedback. again, it seems like SH is kind of admitting its own omission mistake. this is good sign which shows that at least they are willing to come to some sort of compensation/negotiation.
can you kindly calculate and let us now how much is that worth - 6 mths caller id for 2 hp lines?
also did they mention how long you can wait before you confirm the decision to void the contract?
6 month of Caller ID = $5 X 6 (per line) = $30
2 line = $30 X 2 = $60
+7% GST = $4.20
Overall = $64.20
I did ask SH to call me back on thu...At least I got bou 2 days to do my all my calculation...
Btw for my case, currently I m utilising Surflite...and if Express plan kick in..I will be paying additional $30 (est) per mth for 24 mths...additional of $720...so juz feel tt S10 3cells is not worth the price..anyway juz feel that nwadays not much diff between 2M & 8M..since Broadband traffic is always congested..Haiz

The image posted by shapolang stated the specs of the s10 which indicated clearly that it's a 3-cells battery. Why of all thing, the battery capacity is not indicated on the specs display during the show? If this not deceiving, then I dunno what to call this.
Btw shapolang, the image izzit from Lenovo to Starhub stating the specs for this show promo?

i dont know. but for me who give the specs to who is not so important.
the important thing is StarHub gave it to me upon my request in person, signed by the branch manager and cso.
so it is sufficient enough for me to classify this document as Official StarHub Document indicating the specs of the promotion. :s13:

so i am seriously considering voiding my contract, sign a 6 month M1 contract, then jump ship to the best OpenNet provider in Jan 2010 just in time at the end of the M1 contract. :s13:
if tied down to SH contract now means i will miss out on opennet for at least 1.5 years.
i am beginning to think even if best case scenario SH give me 6-cell, i may still void the contract because of this! haha. what an interesting turn of events. :s13:

keep this email as evidence of SH admitting to 3-cell.
regarding the signing, read my reply about the acknowledgement letter. you signed on that letter agreeing the T&Cs next page -- clause 24 and 25 protects SH from everything.

I think everyone would be please if they can just give the s10 as a 6cell instead.
I guess too many ppl are calling in and they have have to do something as its their bad for not indicating the batt in the specifications.
Consumers asked their sales staff and they told us its 6-cell. so who should the consumers trust if starhub going to say they are only temp therefore cant take their words seriously?
2nd, again i think its misleading once again be it its "marketing tatic" for the SH management.
$59.90 for 8mpbs + 1mpbs bb. (its not free! you have to pay $137+ for it)
i saw so many customers d*** unhappy over the counter that everything = $ especially when they queue for so many hours.
In the queue, i still can hear one SH staff telling the customers behind me free modem, free this free that if u sign up, when actually fact its applicable to either one ONLY after i ask another staff to clarify. i.e: new signups, you can only chose free router/$88 off if u BUY the modem at $90+.
too many staffs lack of proper training and product knowledge.
Who should be blame? (Staffs? SH? Consumers?)
lastly, i have tried calling SH since yesterday. left my hp there for 30mins still no one pick up. Email and no reply so far. I guess i have to make a trip personally down this weekend to have a heart-to-heart talk with any 'friendly' manager.

Its not about complaining. I assume you are not one of the those that queue for the S10 and not get what you were promised but yet something which is not worth your time and effort.
Indeed SH did not force us to sign but they mislead us to sign and cant deliver what their sales person have said.
So you mean us - (consumers) should be blame and keep quiet about it?
*
$60 for S10
$45 for normal plan
difference :$15
$15*24 = $360
s10 with 6cell (set itself):$499
(collection: immediated, own colours, no queue)
s10 with 3cell (set itself): $360
(collection: 1 mth, only white, queued for >5hrs)
140 bucks worth the hassle? (might need to top up more if getting a 6cell batt elsewhere = more expensive)

as of now, i believe LEGALLY we got no case, because whatever the sales promoter say, we are suppose to read the fineprint and have signed on it agreeing to all starhub's stated conditions.
so why still bother?
answer : if this issue gets strong public reaction, in the "court of human heart" and goodwill, Starhub may lose badly in that "court".
quick rough calculation. assuming it cost starhub $100 more to change to battery (actual monetary figure should be lower since they will be buying bulk from Lenovo).
should we give starhub more time to respond to this issue and wait until collection day? or make "some noise" so that starhub may revert their decision and have time to inform their suppliers to make changes (assuming the stock has not already arrived/manufactured)? please give your thoughts on this question. thanks!
haha ODEX?
You guys got double 6'ed

it could just be infrastructure up, because it will take up to a year or even more for the entire country to be connected.

Pay some money and go to CASE after collecting all the evidence and information. I suggest you go all the way than to admit defeat to Starhub. Afterall, this "action plan" is not about money, but more on principle right?
Public pressure is one thing, but can be forgottten easily with another "out of the windows" deal. Pressure from CASE, IDA and Public will no doubt be a force not to flirt with.
All the best.

Yes, not so soon. The influstructure has to come first, then test phase (some area will get it). By the time it reach everyone home (95% at 2012) or most people home. It will be around 2 years times.
Pay a visit to Comm Asia IDA booth to know more. You are not going to pay lower, but just higher speed according to IDA. So the question is do you need speed higher than existing connection? Will current lower speed boardband be cheaper?

Yes, you are 100% right. This is why the Q ended up with long waiting. Confusing and incorrect information. Then making customer asking many questions over the counter. If you have Q for 3 hours and now is your turn. Will you gave up?
My way to look at this.
1. Give us what the promoter has told us, or
2. Fired the promoter for not taking the instruction from company.
There is many people needed a job now. We do not need people continue to work for a company that cannot carry out the instruction clearly!

I think we should go to CASE and lodge a complaint. We should not let Starhub off so easily as this is not the first time they made such a mistake. The solution to this problem should not be so easy as to allow the customer to void the contract. An explanation has to be given. I queued on the last day and waited from 11am and finish the whole process at 6pm. I feel CHEATED if they were to give a 3 cell netbook. The price of the netbook they published in the leaflet for PC show is the price of a 6 cell netbook (I went to Challenger and they are selling this 6 cell netbook at the same price with $50 cash off). Moreover, the display set during the PC show is a 6 cell netbook (I have confirmed this with the hotline CSO on Monday)... Isn't all these misleading the customers.. I don't understand why we would have to wait till so long for the collection. If Starhub has planned for this promotion, shouldn't they have planned the collection earlier..

I don't understand why we would have to wait till so long for the collection. If Starhub has planned for this promotion, shouldn't they have planned the collection earlier..
You sure have a good "stand" for a long 6 hours waiting. Not sure what Starhub has to say in this kind of "effecient" process !
Dont think CASE can do anything to this. For those received a email. Clearly Starhub has notice something has happen and try to force you to take what is given by sending a email. If you accept it, then it will be a big mistake as they are forcing you to agree and accept it.

just checked at opennet.com.sg . my block will be wired in Jan nex year.
so i am seriously considering voiding my contract, sign a 6 month M1 contract, then jump ship to the best OpenNet provider in Jan 2010 just in time at the end of the M1 contract. :s13:
if tied down to SH contract now means i will miss out on opennet for at least 1.5 years.
i am beginning to think even if best case scenario SH give me 6-cell, i may still void the contract because of this! haha. what an interesting turn of events. :s13:
The wiring for my block is also scheduled on the 1st quarter of 2010.
BTW, I checked with IDA staff in CommunicAsia and was told that the earliest period whereby ISP starts rolling out FTTH service will be late 2010 or early 2011. So this opennet project is merely to get the infrastructure ready for FTTH.

Your 6 hours long wait + disappointment after you see that they are offering a 3 cell definately has a strong case with StarHub, but I doubt CASE will be able to help with anything. I believe CASE stand is only to meditate and provide recommendations but not intervere to resolve the issue.
In nett, I feel that StarHub is guilty in misleading customers through the various form of advertisement and staff in the show. I believe StarHub is following this as the StarHub CSO I spoke to with regards to the issue is aware of such comments going on in the forums.

Yes, correct. But they also mentioned that, towards the end of this year, more details on the service will be released by the providers.

Probably cant fire them now but StarHub can choose not to employ them for future roadshows.
Anyway, I am not too sure if the booth is run by StarHub themselves or they appoint some one to do it. If the case is the later, it will be much more easier to handle.

so the only resolution is to void contract?
Seriously i think starhub is not honest at all.
Think about this:
The give false information/ hide information from consumers during the show so as to boost sales. This created a "BIG" and "FREE" crowd advertisement for them. Thus many people went to queue for it. It is actually a great move from them! Cuz many pple might not have known about this issue and just gonna live with the 3 cell netbook.
Total of 4 days: 300x4 =1200 pple signed up. (this is only an est. It might be ALOT more)
maybe out of the 1k plus pple only 100 know about this issue.
Thus they still dun mind if we void it. :)
They still earn BIG and can say to us "Thank you for being part of us in this marketing move. We have done extremely well in sales. Your salary will be the $30 voucher. Hope to see you in the next show! Remember to queue for us again!"

Isn't that pretty obvious by now? The real intention is simply to tied down new/exisiting subscriber for another 2yrs which by then FTTH service would already be available. I don't recall there were any notebook/netbook promo for MOL Express user in the past few computer show.

No point tie down leh, they'll also jump on the bandwagon to provide for FTTH service in the near future oso mah.
Besides, taking KR/JP as reference, you'll see the low cost startup for xDSL/Cable plans not beatable by FTTH service anytime sooner.

just came back from sim lim sq and funan recce trip. my gut feel is that there *seems* be an overstock of s10. sure, the prices and package can't match pc show's but the gap is very very close. and today is only the 4th day after the pc show.
let's see if starhub and lenovo try to make a better effort in the upcoming comex show -- maybe S10 3-cell + 15% off MOL express + no queue? :s13:
3 months is a lot of time for prices of s10 and s10-2 to drop dramatically. hopefully s12 will come into the market by then and further reduces the price of s10s. :s13:

StarHub wins customers over
June 14, 2009
By Cheryl Ong , Yeo Sam Jo
TWO months ago, StarHub customers who had been anxious to get their hands on the new BlackBerry Storm had the touchscreen phones delivered to their doorsteps - on the very day they were launched.
They were among the first to benefit from a new service launched by the telco this year, which lets customers pre-order the latest phones before they go on sale, and have them delivered to their homes. This saves customers from having to travel to and queue at the customer service centres to collect the phones.
Such efforts have helped StarHub emerge tops among mobile telecommunications companies in a survey here that measures customer satisfaction levels across various industries.
Read the full report in Monday's edition of The Straits Times.

This may save you a lot of saliva telling the same story over and over again to different CSOs. :s13:

Actually,i'm wondering even if you sign this letter.
Can you guys sue them for letting you sign a contract with terms that is a sure lose situation for customers with the intention of cheating you guys?
Cause i believe with those 2 terms,it would look like starhub is trying to cheat customers hence the need for these 2 terms.

depends how you define "giving in". does giving the option to void contract count? :s13:
6-cell is worth about SGD$84 more than 3-cell. the battery life is longer (roughly about twice depending on usage) which is one of the main reason for getting a notebook.

sorry for the confusion, as we do not have the 3 cell batteries yet,
the 6 cells was used for display purposes only.

Why not u forward this email to Lenovo and ask them if they have advice so.
Quote from Lenovo SG, it priced at $649

Thank you for your email.
We wish to advise that the Lenovo comes with a 3 cell battery. We are
sorry for the confusion, as we do not have the 3 cell batteries yet,
the 6 cells was used for display purposes only.
The specification of the laptop is the same as what Lenovo is
selling, except for the battery. The Usual Price of the retail model
with the 6-cell battery is $799, whereas we listed our unit's worth
as $699 as per recommended by Lenovo. We are sorry any confusion
caused.
If you have further queries, please call our Customer Care hotline at

Best regards
well done to starhub ~ now they are telling me 6cell worth 799 and 3cell is worth 699

hi wangzai, thanks for the feedback. please keep this email for future references.
here's my comment on the content of the email.
"... as we do not have the 3 cell batteries yet,
the 6 cells was used for display purposes only."
you guys see the irony of this? the 3-cell s10 must be so outdated that even SH have difficulty finding it.
why not stay consisent with the omission of battery info by not putting any battery on the display set and just power it (if necessary in the first place) by the power adapter alone? :s13:
"The specification of the laptop is the same as what Lenovo is
selling, except for the battery."
what is the definitation of the word "same" again?
"The Usual Price of the retail model with the 6-cell battery is $799, whereas we listed our unit's worth as $699 as per recommended by Lenovo."
and now the multi-million dollar question .... "Precisely at what point in time is this Usual Price determined? One month ago, two, three?"
assuming this email is real, StarHub admitted to 2 facts which does not require our continued proving of otherwise :
1. StarHub admits the $699 worth refers *only* to the "free" lenovo s10.
2. StarHub admits the display set was fitted with a 6-cell battery.

Well done indeed. Just spoke to a guy from StarHub, he told me that there is no mention in the brochure that the S10 given is a 3/6 cell. And the price of $699 value is given by Lenovo.
He mentioned, take it or leave it. If you we are not happy with getting a 3 cell, we can always terminate the contract and go to another ISP.
That is not our concern if they displayed a 6 cell version there due to stocks availability or what afterall

Call up 1630. One so call supervisor the call. He is firmly confirm it is 3 cells and refuse to admit anything that we have encounted in the show. He offer 2 ways of of it. 1. Take it as it is - ie 3 cells. 2. Cancel the contract. He also insulted me that "why do you think it is a 6 cells" and "why do you go and Q" ! I assumed his option 2 is for customer to cancel and without penaulty. I am going to write in for cancellation with his recording as a proof. Guess this is all Starhub can do at the monment.
By the way, I do not think Lenevo advertised $799 6 cells for S10. But $799 6 cells for S10-2. The customer service who reply to WangZaiXiaoManTou clearly indicate Starhub is not fit to continue to do business in this market.
For those who claimed to received email. I suggest you reply and demand Starhub to send by mail with official company letter head.

hey guys just a friendly reminder. no point making life difficult for the CSO. he/she must be acting on behalf of higher powers. most probably there will be an internal memo circulating about no to 6-cell and can only allow cancel of contract.
even if you caught a CSO behaving unprofessionally and even if this made it to ST forum, the forum reply from starhub will still be the standard "we have counselled our CSO and thank you for the feedback. looking forward to serve you better as customer service is important to us......." LOL :s13:
so i suggest. don't waste too much time on this expecting a miracle from SH. think of it as lucky to find it out now than much later when you no longer have the option to cancel the contract.
can you imagine/stand the potential insult to injury that in about 3 months time (COMEX), StarHub may offer a better S10 deal (or even S10-2) and have your fellow starhub friends who took the better later offer and laugh at you for 21 continuous months? LOL

This is fine. At least unprofessionally behave people should be pull out from the job. So next time, when you are in another Starhub show. We should not have this kind of confuse anymore !
We all understand offer can be changed from time to time and price too. This is not the issue we are trying to discuss in this thread.
By the way, I just called. Confirm cancel contract is no panualty and they will return the $ you paid for the SIM card of mobile boardband. This time I work smarter by recording and making sure he repeat what he say twice. I suggest if you need to visit another Starhub show like this. Do the same!

I am not familiar with CASE. you may try. feel free to quote this thread.
i will be cancelling my contract. i want to do it infront of human CSO in a StarHub customer service centre if possible. so count me out if you wanna go CASE.
personally, i dont think it is worth the effort. the MOST you can get out this (assuming CASE did find Starhub guilty ultimately) is just a simply apology from SH.
refer to the HP laptop centrino case 2 years ago. it was an outright "false" printing in the ad. super-duper black and white. hundreds petition online, newspaper and online coverage of the issue. what is the final result?
also legally, SH is protected because of clause 24 and 25 and your signature agreeing to it.
so my question to you and all those who wanna persue this issue further, not getting the 6-cell but only a black and white apology from StarHub (best case scenario that is) in the local papers worth the trouble? :s13:

In a long way, this is going to be a good example of showing consumer power and makng sure the same mistake will not repeat again. Hopefully, Starhub or other company will learn from this and do a better and clear pomotion next round.

This is beside the point of this discussion of "free gift specification" during the promotion.
You have many way out from DV if you actually want to move. 1st of all, those opt for DV with porting over from singtel is already a big mistake as to move back with same #. Singtel is going to charge you $100 extra.
Next, those who port over should opt for digital voice travel device. So if you change boardband provider (eg, the next gen of boardband). you can still keep the same number by just paying SH ten dollars plus of DV sub-scription. This applies to those want to switch boardband provider.

I wouldn't have move to SH DV if not for ST increase in the fixed line rate and call usage charges. I couldn't switch to Mio then as I'm still under SH contract.
Opting for DV IAD is not a good option as my intention is to minimize the number of devices and to save on electricity. If I wish to retain my DV subscription I believe it's still possible, just cancel the MOL and retain DV service with SH but that will end up with 2 modem if I sign up with M1.
BTW, you're mistaken, when FTTH service is available I would have a lot of other option beside SH DV. The question is when? Some said it's 6-9mths after home is wired up, other mentioned earlier 2011.

Actually, if you are thinking of saving electricity. Then ST is still a good choice as phone line continue to work even there is a island wide power failure! I was the lucky one that did not switch from ST to DV completely as later I found I could not use DV to make a modem dial out call, fax also like sometime work but most of the time failed. So there is still some different between ST analog line and DV.
On your FTTH. Do not forget the main provider is STARHUB. IDA is smart in this way by asking in the tender that provider has to setup a sub-company to handle this service. From there, they retail it to other provider. Although initial speed will be 100M (from main contractor). However, details of of actual offer is not known yet.
So, I am not ready sure what you means about a lot of other options. I believe it will be the same (as in comm Asai show, IDA already say the price will be the same, just you get faster speed). The main reason of my believe is this is still run by the same parent company !

Finally, I am able to make a summary of the phone recording with Starhub CSO as following:
1. SH already know about this issue as they already getting many calls about it.
2. SH can only offer 2 ways out of it. You either take it as it is, or cancel the contract without panualty.
3. SH suggest there is not black and white document to claim that promotion is S10 with 6 cells battery.
4. CSO spoken to me suggest if the 2 ways offer to me is not acceptable. I can continue this forum. He
Ensure this is final decision by SH. Nothing can be changed except the above 2 offerring.
5. CSO suggest it is ok as SH do not mind we terminate the contract.
6. CSO told me the demo set with 6 cells is there because they do not have 3 cells one. we cannot use
that as reference.
Strange enough is thru out the whole conversation. He deny any saleman or promoter has told customer above S10 6 cells offerring as there is no proof for it (but he cannot explain why sundenly so many customers call up to ask about this). He again stated not black and white to claim offerring is with 6 cells battery. "$699" is the only indication, but he say this is the price given by Lenovo. SH has nothing to do with it! (I guess the advertisment may be paied by Lenovo?).
I suggest, if anyone would like to continue with SH. It is best to have some recording, black and white etc. Otherwise they can turn around and deny everything.

Again you're mistaken, Starhub subsidiary (Nucleus Connect) only run the OpCo part and are require to offer a wholesale price of $21 per month for a 100 Mbps residential end-user connection to RSPs. I believe you have mix up the whole sales price with retain price before it can reach you.
The retail price is likely to include some hardware device, if not - also some free bees again etc. So you are not going to see anything less than $60 for the 100M plan.

I believe you have mix up the whole sales price with retain price before it can reach you.
The retail price is likely to include some hardware device, if not - also some free bees again etc. So you are not going to see anything less than $60 for the 100M plan.
I never said anything about retail price! Of course by the time it reaches the RSPs, it would gone up by several notch, this one is understood. My lowest estimate is similar to your based on simple fact ($15 for NetCo, $21 for OpCo, markup + equipment + etc).

You must have been bull-sh*ted by the StarHub promoter.
The earliest date should be 6th July as far as I know unless they have a newer date. I doubt there are any upgrade options available for this promotion either.
