may have asked this before but for a slightly different problem so pls bear with me

my com has one HDD just for operating systems
C:/ is windows xp pro sp3
D:/ is windows 7 RC7100

thing is, i just found the old COA for windows xp home and since my xp pro installation is kind of corrupted (really glitchy and slow for some reason), i'm planning to reinstall. question is how do i do that without disrupting my current windows 7 installation ? i'm using windows 7 currently but still need XP for some applications.

on a sidenote, will downloaded versions of windows xp home work with the serial number on my acer COA ? i've the COA but can't seem to find the CD. and i'm not sure if i can request another CD from them.

edit: does xp home support a dual core processor (using E7300 now) ? i'm getting conflicting responses from my friend. one says it does, the other says it doesn't

TIA

There is no way not to disturb the Win7 installation since the active partition is in C:
If you formatted the C: , you won't be able to boot up to Win7 as well.

Acer's system can use any OEM WinXP Home Edition CD to perform installation using the key on the COA.

Home Edition defintely support the use of multi-core processor but not multi processor as in more than 1 processor socket installed with processors. For multi-processor, you need Professional Edition or Server Edition.

but its using the windows 7 boot loader, thats why i was hoping i could just format and reinstall it. so there's definitely no way to fix this ?

i dunno if this works for w7 or not, but it works for vista

1) install XP into C:
2) u'll only boot into XP
3) download and install EasyBCD
4) config EasyBCD to rescue vista and add XP to the boot menu of vista
