Hi all,

I have a speed issue with my SingNet BB 15mbps plan. I have done speedtest from www.speedtest.net and my download is rated at around 9mbps. Called up SingNet and they suspected that it could be due to line issue and they came down to conduct a line test and line condition turned out well.

If I were to use my 2Wire2700HGV-E standalone, I will be able to achieve 16mbps download. However, when I set the 2Wire2700HGV-E as bridge and connect it together with my WRT54GL, I will only be able to achieve 16mbps download for only the first few minutes and the rate will subsequently drop back down to 9+ mbps.

My WRT54GL is on DD-WRT std v24-sp1 firmware. MTU is manually set at 1492. Whenever I set the MTU to Auto, the router reboots as per usual to apply the new settings and I will again be able to achieve 16mbps download for the first few minutes and drops back down to 9mbps. I don't think it is a modem issue as I have tried it together with the Linksys AM300 modem with the same result.

Does anyone knows what is the issue here? I am trying not to use the 2Wire as a router as I understand there are issues with it.

Thanks!!!

Hi,

Thanks for your reply. Is it a limitation on the WRT54GL router or is the router just plain faulty?

Suspect that there's a speed issue with the router.

It should be resolvable with newer firmwares. However there's a recommendation to change your router as the hardware is very old.

btw ddwrt sp1 firmware is not recommended. There is a peacock thread in ddwrt which states explicitly not to use sp1 firmware and recommends what are the current good builds.

It also has nothing to do with compatibility with adsl2.
