Hi all,

I got a notebook which I installed Windows XP. The notebook model is Compaq Presario A900 series with exact model no. A906TU.

After much searching, I managed to get hold of all the drivers required for XP.

For the wireless adapter ... the installed driver is this "Atheros AR5006X Wireless Network Adapter".

I have also install XP Service Pack 3.

Now ... I am using a Linksys wireless router BEFW11S4 .... I configured it for "WPA Pre-Shared Key". No matter what I do, I just can't connect it to the network. I tried setting the router to "Unsecured" and Yes ... it could connects. It could also connects to other "Unsecured" network which it detects in the area.

I got another notebook .... the wireless is InterPro .... it is also running XP and it could connect to the wireless with the same security settings.

So just wondering anyone here could help me out here?

do atheros have their own control panel thingy?
if yes go to the control panel and set it with WPA PSK..
it may caused by wrong credentials..
have you tried WEP?

Right-click the connection that you are trying to connect before connecting.
Go to Properties, then mess around till you find the security related tab.

Then change your security type to what is mentioned for your wireless router.

Yes. I have set the router to be WPA-PSK and did the same on the notebook.

I tried to find other drivers for the wireless but it still didn't work.

Wireless channel 5 - 2.347Ghz

Check your SSID Broad case is enable or not

Auto Config -- DHCP

If still dont work. Reset the router

Press reset button for 30 sec

Hi,

Thanks for your input.

My SSID broadcast is turned on for detection but once connected, I would disable SSID broadcast.

Yes ... I know that it is router ...

Have you tried to shorten the length of your WPA Pre-Shared Key ?

Do not disable SSID broadcast, it dosn't help that people can still see ur SSID easily.
