Appreciate some advice on this question.

I am currently subscribing to Starhub hubstation and I am getting 1 mb of free internet access.

My wife will VPN to her office and download or upload working files on the company network shared drives. Some of the files are big (several mb to 1GB). She is complaining that the broadband at home is slow.

I am trying to ascertain whether it is worth it to upgrade my BB to a higher capacity or that the VPN will be the bottleneck. Getting a higher plan simply means my download speed is increased. It does not means my upload speed is increased rite? Is there a difference in the upload speed between 1mb compared to (say) 6mb?

Even if there is a difference and there is an improvement in performance, will the VPN be a bottleneck?

I am wondering whether paying another 50sgd a month would make her happy?

The vpn will be the bottleneck.

Office internet is usually slower than home's version.

Unless her office pays big bucks for really high speed internet.

But important thing is the upload speed from her office and the upload speed from your home internet.

Her company is a small time American MNC company. I am not expecting huge bandwidth as the number of employee in her company is not many.

Do we know if 1mbps is good enuf for typical VPN in Spore?

I don't really how fast VPN can be in Spore.

I use VPN mainly to read emails and access system application. I don't usually copy big files. But I know getting the shared drive files is hell for me.

Moi ish VPN home from school de :)
The bottleneck is at my home connection, unlike most schools connection instead :s34:

There are different type of VPN implementation, each of the type will affect the connection rate.
