Noob question ~ Pls help!

Hello everyone, have a really noob question to ask here, pardon me for my lack of knowledge and ignorance....

I'm going to buy a netbook soon, and i have a few questions in my mind, im going to need to surf the net on the go but i dun really know how to go about doing it.
Like, how do i surf the net outside? I know there's Wireless@SG, but if im not wrong its only at some specific place, then if i want to go online on the Bus/MRT, how?

student, but not tertiary... will be surfing the net almost everytime, but i'll just be browsing the net, checking emails, sometimes maybe will have msn conversation, no online gaming etc.

M1 is currently the cheapest at $15.69/mth for 1mbps lo.. + multi-line saver

the speed is good right? i mean, wun lag a lot when browsing web? cuz i heard some mobile broadband, lags until like worst than 56k dial up...

Yup not bad the speed... Surfing won't be a problem. Low ping rate for a mobile BB..
But in underground MRT on east-west line may be slower as the 3G network there is weak, will run on GPRS instead..
My 1mbps M1 mobile BB speed now lo at 7.40pm:
