Networking Experts comez inz Networking experts - please advice :-

I was wondering if it is possible to hook up several Cable Routers in this fashion :-

Router configuration - each router has 4 switched ports and 1 wan port

1) you take 3 or 4 cable routers

2) you firstly hook up node A by attaching 1 network cable to the router's wan port to the
cable modem - this is your only line to the internet

3) then you connect 2 additional nodes to node A by attaching node B and C's wan port to the switch port of Node A

4) and it goes on like this - Node E and F will have their wan ports attached to the switch ports of Node B

5) all the PC's on the network will subsequently attach to the switch ports of each node of the routers ...

in a way you can get multiple subnets in a network

Is this possible boh ???

Is this workable boh ???

What configuration must be done on each router's end ???

in this way u will have multiple NAT

performance will be a great hit especially for the computers connected to 3rd or 4th router

I found something on this topic here :-

http://www.home-network-help.com/wireless-router-as-access-point.html

basically they have to use a cross over cable to connect both routers together ...

I was wondering if anyone can confirm if it will work boh ???

The diagram you posted above will only work if connected Lan port to Lan port as both routers are in same subnet.
