I know that there are ethernet ports on wireless router, what are the uses of these ports since it's a wireless router?

simple. not all of your PC(s) is/are wireless capable. If there are - then yes, it will be rendered near useless.

and is also useful when you screwed your wireless configuration setup and or firmware upgrade.

allow u to connect ur PC using LAN cable...
also do configuration...

of cos, both e abv also can be done by wireless

As far as possible I use a wired connection around my house so the ethernet ports on the router are always used. Its faster and more reliable especially with VPN. The Wireless is only used for my phones.

When renovating, advise to always consider network wiring your house with network switches along the way.
