hey guys, i read up some articles on how to connect to xbox live through laptop with wireless internet connection with the use of a ethernet cable but it is not working over at my side.
this is what i did:
- hook in both ends of the cable to the console and to my laptop
- disable the wireless connection over at my laptop, and set it to 'allow internet sharing' under the advance properties
- next, enable the wireless connection and enable the Local Area Connection
- but when i try to test for connection to xbox live over at my console, it says failed to connect
any guys can help me with this, by the way, i'm using a d-link 524 and it is placed outside my room, my laptop is receiving the signal well, so i dont think is the strength of the signal that is causing the problem.
thanks guys~~

Hmm... I've done this before - recall the problem is caused by the wireless adapter not being in promiscuous mode. I believe yours may be the same case.
Okay, did a quick search for u, this link might help:

You could get a Microsoft Xbox 360™ Wireless Networking Adapter but it costs US$99.

The advantage of the above is that you don't have to switch on your notebook to connect your XBox.

I believe there are cheaper alternatives, iirc from D-Link.
Another idea that I was toying around with last time was to use my spare wireless router/ap and WDS it with the main one... i.e. extend wireless coverage while I'm at it.
Never got round to doing it though - got a hubstation and now my wireless router, xbox360 and hubstation are all clustered together. Free 1mbps - good enough for me... :)

cheap way will be what kun1he2 suggested. get a cheap wireless router and place inside your room. can boost your wireless signal and your xbox can connect direct to the router via wire.
for my case, router and xbox are in living room, wire connected. laptops are roaming ard the house with wireless connection. but i will change to the above setup if i move my router into the room. :)
