Since you're on the Internet posting this, do you know what Internet type/plan you are currently using?

I cant comment on worth, because worth and value related to money is a personal thing that deals a lot with personal happiness. So it is very subjective and a very individual opinion that will invoke passionate, religious, fanatical and obsessive comments from others with varying personal beliefs about what's worth. :D

In addtion to what liangtam has suggested,
1. Use wired connection instead of wifi, and
2. connect directly to the modem instead of via router.

First measure your own speed now. Goto speedtest.net and measure. Then report back your upload and download speeds and your "ping".

basically u have to know what kind of surfing patterns you have and if you surf local websites more than overseas? If you surf more local websites with rich multimedia content it will be advisable to go for the higher bandwidth but if u're aiming for overseas website I would say juz stick to the basic plans. Fast or slow has to be determined at the end point if they are able to serve out high throughput.(e.g. if you have 100mbps line and the website capped it at 10kbps per user, u're stuck with 10kbps).
