Hi guys just wanna know if anyone here manage to sign
singtel broadband on mobile data sim plan(youth bbom,1000,2000 etc)
as a Value-Added Service(vas) on your mobile plan.

They revised their bbom services splitting bbom data sim plan for laptop users and bbom as VAS for mobile users.

The thing is: both data sim plan and vas are using the same 3g/hspda tech.
why mobile users have to pay more for vas with less data usage ?!!
I need 50gb @ 1.5mbps bbom for my laptop for "work on the go" as well as iphone using the same sim card + tethering.

the prices you pay for value added service bbom is ridiculously high and could get you a fix line unlimited broadband anytime.
EG:
would you get bbom vas for 19.90/mth with 1GB @ 7.2mbps OR
bbom youth data sim plan 14.50/mth with 50GB @ 1.5mbps
(do you really need 7.2mbps on you mobile phone?!)

i will be grateful if anyone has solution or suggestion.

Yup. That's how they profit lor. Very different from America. (But in America, you get charged for RECEIVING sms'es....so in the end we consumers are screwed both ways no matter where...)

If you are not heavy user and 1GB is enough, you can get VAS plan, then apply for multi-sim, put one sim in your phone and one in your usb modem.

multi-sim, that's probably the reason why they make vas more expensive.

Yes, but still cheaper than u get 2 plans.. i think it is best possible solution with singtel.

Lookout for promos when u sign up vas plan.. I got 2mbps with 30GB for less than $20..

If you enjoy take your sim in and out... you can do that..

I am lazy guy.. prefer multi-sim, one sim for each device but all under same number.

Not data sim plan. U take a VAS plan. Then subscribe to Multi-sim. U get two sim cards, one goes into your hp, one goes to your modem. Both share the same mobile number. U make the one on your hp the active sim so that you can receive phone calls.

Whether u surf using your hp or your modem, they deduct usage from the same plan.

oh. i am using iphone tethering so the phone can act as a usb modem. dont need to have 2 sims when i use the laptop at work. the thing is i need 50gb data cheap as a vas which singtel used to provide.

if you're still on that plan, shld be possible to still continue bah.

if you use ur phone as a modem, then the battery will drain.

the singtel BBOM is terribly slow and i guess not to value of your money. When you need it most the speed is slow at that time.

Twinsen

Then you shld just get vas.. but like liangtam said, your iphone battery will die fast..
If you are not doing 24 hrs torrenting, you don't need 50GB anyway. Can opt for lesser.

I surf, email, download a few things.. on 2 phones and a laptop, I dont think i can even hit 5GB much..

actually you can request the plan under "Data services for laptop users"
my mobile phone now is using the plan 1000 ( 1 Mbps, 30 GB) 3 months contract, free 1 month.

i will definitely need the 50gb with me on the go at my workplace as there is no internet connectivity available in factory areas. 50gb due to usage of home and workplace as well everyday. it's convenient and cheap at 17sgd for 50gb/1.5mbps but i really need it as a value added service like before.

In that case, either u pay for it with VAS or you take the data plan lor.. no way ard it.

frankly.. nobody use 50gb.. especially not without torrenting or like watching youtube more than 10 hrs a day..

good luck!

how much is a multi sim for singtel?

I didn't actually research on the multisim thingy!

It gets irritating for me because i either need to have 2 phones, or i can't receive my calls from my own number.
Is it possible for me though, to upgrade to a multisim?

This promo is no longer available. For existing user, you will continue to under this plan 1000 (ie 1 Mbps, 30GB).

i subscribe bbom VAS premium plan.

I went to Hello shop today planning to sign up multi sim. The CSO told me that i can only activate 1 sim card at any time, if use my phone as master sim, then i cant use the other sim for the laptop. Is he correct?

Can multi sim works so that can make calls and surf net through my phone or surt net through usb modem with laptop without swapping of sim cards?

All SIM can be used at the same time for outgoing calls and data. Only one phone can be used at a time for incoming calls. You switch between phones by dialling *141#. I got the maximum number .. total 4 SIMs. All use data.

nice to know multi sim can use data.
guess i will just multi sim my current 50gb cheap data plan.
but it will be very troublesome to swap in and out of the phone. sigh

I am not sure if singtel allow multi-sim "data" sims? I dont think they allow, else a lot of people will subscribe to one plan and get 4 sims and share it around. I think only mobile plans can have multi-sim. U can certainly check with them.

anyway, if you have multi-sim, u will not need to swap sims in and out of phone.... that is the whole purpose of multi-sim....

CSO smoke u.. or some miscomm..

You can surf the web on your phone and your laptop with usb modem at the SAME time.
For voice calls,
Master sim = incoming will ring, can make outgoing calls, sms, mms, surf web etc..
Slave sim = incoming will not ring, still can make outgoing calls, sms, mms, surf web etc..

You can even call your master sim phone with your slave sim phone and your own number appears on the master sim phone.. :)

i subscribe bbom VAS premium plan.

Did anybody actually contact Singtel and check with them if we really cannot subscribe to the usual BBOM plans as VAS?

I'm currently using BBOM1000 as a VAS on 50% discount from last sept Comex and i'm looking forward to continue subscribing when the contract rate runs out end of this month.

M1 and SH have slightly different price plans... Both M1 and SH have price caps at $36 should you exceed data bundle but not ST..

Currently M1 data plans are the cheapest for 1GB at $16.. SH and ST at $19

For $5 plan, M1 offers 20MB, SH 10Mb
$10 plan -> M1 offers 100MB
