View Full Version : Cable Modem and Wireless Router Compatibility

i've just collected my cable modem from Starhub as i've signed up for their 8mbps plan.

i have also a Linksys wireless router with built-in modem which i intend to use with the cable modem. just need to know if the router is compatible with the cable modem. since the router has a built-in modem, can it still be hooked up to the cable modem?

i've used this router previously when i was on the Singnet broadband plan.

normal cable routers have a WAN port which is same as a LAN cable socket.

does ur Linksys have it? I use adsl modem router and i dont see it.

maybe can post ur model for pros to decide.

Standard wireless router of any brand and any models.

TS asked if his wireless gateway can connect to his new cable modem and you answer with above.

Are you referring to using the WCG200 directly or you really mean this cable gateway can connect to another cable modem? I don't see how?

The modem ish can bring back for rewards point, or sell away for cold hard cash reh.

ok lah... my existing router can't be used as it is a ADSL one. i bought the Linksys WRT54GC and problem solved already.
