Hi all,

Basically in need of a 2nd internet connection, so just wanted to check something.

I read that the Singnet 8mbps MiO connection that I currently use (and should be true for all plans under Singnet) is under a transparent proxy, which explains why the IP keeps changing every few seconds.

I need to know whether this is true also for M1 and StarHub, because one of the requirements for this 2nd internet connection is that I need the IP to keep changing every few seconds just like Singnet's.

I have looked at M1's mobile BB and Singnet's 3mbps landed BB, prices are around the same but M1 has a shorter contract period (6months, whereas Singnet is 24months). Can anyone advice on whether mobile BB's IP will be changing every few seconds too?

Thanks.

Why do you even need the IP to be constantly changing when its linked to you.

What do you mean by "linked to me"?

Can anyone using Singnet mobile BB/data BB and M1 mobile BB/data BB visit www DOT whatismyip DOT com and check if your IP constantly changes when you refresh the page? Have confirmed that SH doesn't change.

Your ip will not change unless you disconnect and reconnect your router or modem..

Yes, but I am referring to the transparent proxy IP which you can check at www DOT whatismyip DOT com by refreshing a few times, for instance mine is 220.255.7.216 when I refresh I get 220.255.7.215 and refresh again I get 220.255.7.213 which explains why SN users find it hard to download from rapidshare/megaupload because people have used their "IP" to download already before them.

Just to check, with a 2nd land line and 2nd broadband internet connection, will I be getting a different range of transparent proxy IPs from my first one or will they be the same because it's in the same area?

With starhub it's even worse cause you're stuck with 1 IP and everyone else is too. =p
