omg my wrt54g is so buggy.

i change wireless channel to 13 - 2.472GHz, only my ps3 can detect well but my lappy wasnt at all. the signal was like up and down especially the SSID name wasnt broadcast.
So i changed back to channel 11 - 2.462 which is the maximum i can go(tried channel 12&13). and things went smoothly.

now was deciding whether to use dd-wrt. anyone tried before? :s22:

If i not wrong only WRT54G before v5 can use DDWRT
If ur WRT54G is still brand new, go back to shop n request to change to WRT54GL.
WRT54GL uses linux, can flash to DDWRT.

There is a small price diff between wrt54g n wrt54gl

What are you trying to achieve by disabling SSID broadcast...? Security...? :s22:

Just enable SSID broadcast to make your life better.

no la. i didnt disable lei.. actually i was using channel 11 everything was fine till i change to channel 12/13. the signal was unstable and wasnt broadcasting the SSID.

cos i remember ma, higher the frequency the better penetration but of cos shorter traveling distance :eek: . cos my house area no one using channel 12/13

one thing is, i dont know how come my ps3 can detect 12/13 smoothly. weird, isit my laptop problem?

Because of freq restriction. Not all devices are allowed to operate above channel 11.

If your device's region is set to North America, the highest channel number is 11. For most of the rest of the world, is up to 13. For Japan, is up to 14 (but channel 14 supports only wireless B).

i changed a few settings,
Beacon Interval: 20 (default was 1000)
Frame Burst: Enable (default was disable)

any suggestion to increase signal, speed etc.

man. tats really troublesome haha. it reminds me abt NASA. US ask europe,jap, etc to help them out abt the spaceship. ended up europe mixed up with wrong cabling system :s22:

u can try to use channel 6..im using wrt54 and it works well with channel 6..Hope this can solve ur problem

haha..free de ma, so i juz take from friends as he dont need it :o

u can try to use channel 6..im using wrt54 and it works well with channel 6..Hope this can solve ur problem
