I had this linksys router WRT610N which i haven been using for awhile. Just few days back suddenly it become unresponsive. I am using the WUSB600N.
This is what happens b4 and after this problem:
Was playing Aion Open beta and looking for a solution to lower ping as my usual ping is about 800ms.
Happen to discover there's 2 registry tweak. TcpAckFrequency and TCPNoDelay. It was reported that it indeed lower WoW's ping and someone say it works for Aion too so i tried it. Indeed it low my ping to 400 to 500ms which is a very good thing. On top of that, I experience no significant change to my connections, no slow down on surfing etc, rather, my utorrent client was downloading at quite a good speed. (i know torrent are subjective to many factors when come to speed and I did make a small change in 1 setting when my friend say it will improve speed, but i type it here is for info only)
Internet and everything still works as per normal then. At night when i went to slp, i shutdown my com and off router and modem. When i wake up the next day, i switch on everything, WUSB600N conencts to my router as normal. But it seems no data is being transmitted after that. I cannnot access my router 169.168.1.1. Everything internet related stuff stop working.
I tried reconnecting but its still the same, connect but router doesn't seems to "reply" ( I observed the connection status while trying to i.e.log in to msn and there's no received packets, only sent.)
So i thot its what i did ytd, so i deleted the registry entries and reboot, situation unchanged. Tried alot of thing, finally I put back the registry tweak, off everything. ON my router and modem first (they are together using multiplug) when led light stop blinking I switch on my Com. OK now everything is fine, used my com for whole day. At night i turn off my computer again but this time i left the router and modem on.
The next day same thing happen again. Very frustrated, it couldn't be the new registry tweak i added, since i can used my computer normally for whole day once everything is normal. What I don't understand is why when everything works normal and when i switch them off for couples of hours, after that everything breaks again.
For extra information, I was playing Aion Online, I did use utorrent but close it when playing online games.
Any experts could shares some pointers on what could be the problem, is it the bittorrent? (but remember i switch everything off for at least 6 hours, that should clear all connections that stays in the router) Or is it plain WRT610N being a bad router and such, since i have read several bad feedback on this model of router.
