Connection from modem to my computer via 5m lan cable.

Specs of computer on the right

Problem is whenever I host warcraft game on any kind of platform be it garena or battlenet, people always complain 2-5 sec delay which I do not know what cause it. My friend runs a 5m lan cable to macbook pro and there is no such problem. No portforwarding done on both mine and my friend's com.

Help please feeling helpless....

Sorry ping is >30ms not 54.. 54 is TTL

Nothing to do with internet and stuff. I can host with my laptop wirelessly with no people complaining. Could it be that my com's spec is too lousy? I did reformat but still cannot solve the problem

Any cure to this problem?

1. Could it be lousy cable used?
2. Lousy specs for my com?

maybe it's the router's problem?

I'm not a CCNA holder, but I work in the IT support. Try these:
-netstat and take note of any running services. Close programs that are unresponsive/awaiting reply and unnecessary ones
-tracert sg.yahoo.com. Max hops should be less than 10; 5 is ideal
-turn off unnecessary services (run > services.msc). If unsure, use software like ashampoo win optimizer (u can uninstall this later). Be careful not to disable critical services like windows audio, etc..
-run msconfig to check on loaded background programs
-disable firewall (windows/McAfee/Sygate) & antivirus
-download latest LAN drivers & reboot

My suggestion is based on checking your software/OS part since you have done quite a bit of physical hardware checking already. Since you are using MIO, open your browser and go to 192.168.1.254 > firewall and check your firewall log to see if there are people trying to portscan your IP. I've experienced extreme slowness only to realise that many attackers are targetting my IP though I'm the only present host on the network. It might be that your IP has been realised by a network of botnet, we do not know, I'm basing on experience.

your yahoo ping is too high. I'm using 10Mbps with MIOTV and able to play online games smoothly with my specs. Let me know the outcome of the test and I'll assist you on your next troubleshooting steps.

You have to isolate your problem into the below 3 category

1) Line issue

2) Router issue

3) PC issue.

Since you can host wirelessly, that cancels out the Line issue.

Next, did you open any port or do then necessary port forwarding on the router for you PC ?

Have you tried putting your pc in the DMZ ?

For your PC, have your check your network card properties, see whether is it automatic or Full duplex.
If automatic, try set to Full duplex and vice versa.
Play around with the setting
Good luck.

Your ping is not high lar, anything below 100ms is more than enuff for RTS, 2 seconds delay means 2000ms leh.

It would be easier to troubleshoot if you state clearly what do you do when it lags and who do you do when it does not.

I am not sure what is the problem, but I will list what is happening:

When hosting with lan cable from my PC, people will complain spike+delay like arnd 2-4 sec but no one complain when I host wireless with my laptop. So I doubt that the problem is with my internet.
I got the latest lan driver also but still lag. I do not lag at all but those people who join my game lags like hell (from what they say). No portforwarding is done on router since garena does not need portforwarding to host game. No anti-virus program installed. Even when a fresh copy of OS installed and then install WC3 + garena people still say lag don't know why. I don't think is the router issue also.

I don't understand what is the full duplex thing mind explaining? Maybe I can check my computer

full duplex means can receive n sent packet at the same time.. while half duplex means it can only send or receive at a time..

Hence we can deduce that internet is ok, router is ok, network, OS and game settings are ok, wireless is ok,

The only problem is the LAN and its driver. Nothing much to do about it.

Ignore the duplex thing for now... btw wireless is half-duplex

I know the theory of full duplex, but how do I check if my com is on half duplex or full duplex for the lan cable?

A question: does cheap cable affect the speed of packets sent?

cheap got 2 types of cheap.. cheap worksmanship or cheap cables used 2 make lan cable.. if cheap cable used 2 make lan cable it doesnt really affect much for daily uses.. but if poor crimping of cable n all does lead 2 bad connectivity.. plug out both ur cables check if all 8 cables are touching the end of the rj45 head..

I got a plan to check if the problem lies with the cable or my com: I will host a game tonight using the lan cable plug to my laptop. If the problem persist, then the problem is with the cable. If not, means something wrong with my com's lan driver or something.
I will post the result after trying, currently at work now

Alright just tested: I hosted using laptop with lan cable and wireless no problem, so problem should not lie with my cable. Problem now is the lan port of my PC. What can I do to solve this problem? My motherboard is gigabyte one. I went to their web to look for driver but no new ones so any solution?

off your com firewall first la.... too many firewall/antivirus junk is another root cause
try uninstall garena and test hamachi/open port for a trial first
