Connect SH Modem to Switch instead of Router

Can i connect my StarHub modem to a network switch instead router if i do the following:

1. Use LAN cable only
2. set static IP to all my computers instead of automatic (e.g. 192.168.1.100 and 192.168.1.101) since the switch is unable to assign IP address.

mainly, i would like to know i can replace my router to a switch. I do not need all the port forwarding and firewall features.

Unless the switch can do NAT.
