View Full Version : Erratic Wireless connection with wireless-N USB adapter
i am using :
System: Windows Vista (service pack 1)
is it because wireless-N adapter has conflict with vista ?
does anyone has the same problem ?
it gets connected and then disconnected.
sometimes i must disconnect it and then reconnect back.
sometimes when i try to reconnect, it doesn't as it says no wireless network detected - even after i refresh.
i must restart the whole PC to establish connection.
sometimes it went ok.
this is driving me crazy. i might as well use an ethernet cable.

what wireless security you using?
i'm no expert but here are some suggestions.
if you can set/reserve IP addressesses for your local machines and if you can use MAC address filtering, do it.
wireless N can be finicky sometimes, to take advantage of the full speed maybe set your router to both 20/40 mhz, and only Wireless G/N (instead of all A/B/G/N) and use WPA-2
Could also be due to frequency clashes with other wireless networks nearby. make sure you set a channel far away from your neighbouring wifi networks
could be a DNS communication issue between your computer and the router. i think the computer usually lets the router resolve the DNS but if you are having intermittent disconnects, it could be due to some form of de-auth. Google or call your ISP and get working a working DNS.
What wireless N adapter you using? update to latest drivers if you can. if you are using D-Link wireless-N, go and get the Ra-Link Drivers.
