I'm on SNBB and the modem provided by them is the 2700HGV-2.
My parents started watching P2P TV on the Internet recently and this will slow down everything.

I have a Linksys WRT54G, running on DD-WRT. It was used when I last subscribed to Starhub.
Should I change the 2700HGV-2 to bridge mode and use the WRT54G or is there a better way?

Run P2P of cos will slow down what.

But it does not seem to slow down as much when using BT.
Running PPLive or other P2P TV slows down everything to a crawl.
Even surfing websites is very slow.

No its not.
The P2P software is run on another desktop. Both my bro's and mine laptop's Internet will be affected whenever it is run.
However, our Internet returns to normal when the P2P software is closed.

You go to start>run>cmd and type netstat -b at the command prompt of that desktop, it will explain why both of you are affected. Don't be so sure the speed return to normal after the P2P TV application closed, re-run netstat -b after the application closed, you will know how many established connections are active.

I'm using PPS to watch shows too, it will drain all the bandwidth.

If your 2700HGV-2 has QOS facility, u can use that, otherwise use the WRT54G's DD-WRT QOS feature.

I notice that most P2P TV programs use random ports to initiate connections, so u probably can't use port for priority.

Try to set your parents' PC's IP address to be lower than the usual level, this should work.

i got the same problem too
i fix it using netlimiter by limiting the computer upload spd. this should help

Ok thanks I try using netlimiter.
The problem is that even though PPS allows you to fix the TCP/UDP port, there is no QOS feature in the default 2700HGV-2 firmware.

Is there any firmware which I can flash ?
