I posted on here earlier with a DIR 655 that was giving me a lot of issues with dropped signals and wireless adapter on my computer unable to connect. Listened to your advice and updated my adapter drivers and realised that whenever security (WPA, WPA2 or anything else) was on the connection would be dropped and I could not detect the router.

So I decided to try MAC address filtering, set it to only accept my computer - and kept the network unsecured. This allowed me to connect and my network has been very stable.

BUT today I tried to set portforwarding up and it asked me to reboot after settign it up and since then its decided that from

DLINK 655 1.21 A4 Revision
its now a
DLINK 615 2.24SH B2 Revision

AAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have reset this piece of crap about 10 times and its made no difference. I even tried to flash the firmware to 1.30 from dlink.sg for 655 router - and it said saw through my trickery and said that this firmware was not compatible with the router installed.

So now my DIR 655 is a DIR 615. Any suggestions!?

I called DLINK tech support and the receptionist and I had this conversation:

*Receptionist (R) takes my details*
R: Ok sir someone will call you back
ME: Oh ok, can I have a time?
R: No sir, we're not sure
ME: Well can you estimate? Like 1 hour? 2 hours? 5 hours?
R: Within 24 hours
ME: So I stay at home sitting by my router? What happens if you call and I am not near my router, then I have to wait in line again?
R: Ok I will try to get them to call you within one hour, and if not, they'll call you within 24 hours.
ME: So they'll call me within 24 hours and you're not sure when?
R: Yes
ME: So this is different from before... how?
R: Sorry sir, good bye.

You guys have any ideas? I'm stumped.

And since you still remember your old thread, why open a new thread?

Still, have you tried on another PC and wireless adaptor yet?

Sorry I wasn't sure what the protocol was. You can delete this thread and I can repost under my old thread.

Somehow the problem resolved itself now I am back to

Firmware Version: 1.21WW
Hardware Version: A4
Product Page: DIR-655
??!

I kept hard resetting (2more times - i.e. i would begin by hitting reset, power off while holding reset, power back on 5 seconds later, hold reset for another 30 seconds). I am going to switch to firmware 1.30 now and hopefully this will make the router a bit more reliable.

:s11:

Well minutes after saying that while trying to rename my network in setup its back to :

Firmware Version: 2.24SH
Hardware Version: B2
DIR-615

I give up.

So I figured it out. Basically there is another DLINK Network that keeps getting picked up and my computer was connecting to that making it DIR-615! I have renamed the network, managed to find it - and now I am connected.

After doing speedtest to Singapore and getting 0.6 MBPS both ways - I just retested with my network and got:
25mbps dl 6 ul

So not bad...
