Mobile boardband for PS3

hi guyz, my friend just apply a starhub mobile boardband for his PS3. He saw from internet it is plug and play but when he plug it into the usb infront, the PS3 cant detect any network from the mobile boardband.
Since he already sign up the 2yrs contract for the mobile boardband,
is there any way plug the mobile boardband onto the desktop or laptop then using wat wirless modem to let the PS3 use as wirless??

you can purchase a 3g router, such as the one from aztech, should be less than $100 IIRC.
