noob needs help here: how to change router channel?

hi there im using singtel, 2wire. recently i need to change my router channel to either 1 or 11 cuz my wii cant connect to internet. in their wii website they suggest changing the channel as there might be wireless interference nearby, but i cant understand,

1. how to know what channel your router is at now?
2. how to change channel?
3. will changing this channel affect your internet performance/security?


any advice much appreciated! =D
