Mods. Admins, this is a legal question.

Background
I have had trouble with my laptop for months now and I've visited the service centre twice. After the 2nd time, i reinstalled windows myself . THe problem is the cdkey on the laptop and the COA are different. I was told and read online that this was quite common . I previously used Jellybeans to detect my cdkey but now i cant.

why?

My laptop failed on me again. im using the laptop hdd on an external hdd and backing up everything manually . Now i'd like to know how do i retrieve my cdkey from the registry of the hdd?
Anyway to find out how ? I never did backuped my cdkey after the previous reinstallation.

all help would be great...

Just use the COA one.

As above, just use the key on the COA.

The key you were able to retrieve before is used by laptop company to activate their laptops en-masse. The COA basically arrives unused when you bought your laptop, and is for the purpose of re-activation, like in the scenario you're facing now.
