Hi all, first of all, i'm a complete noob as to which harddrive is suitable for me. I know nuts about harddrive and i'm buying one just to backup my data because i dont want it to fail me.

1. Is there a different between an external harddrive and a portable harddrive?

2. i want a harddrive in which i can backup my PS3 Data on it so i should be purchasing one USB 2.0 harddrive?

3. I want a harddrive which can work with both windows and mac.

4. I do not want to purchase an expensive harddrive as i'm just a student and my budget is S$200 and below.

5. Is SIM LIM SQUARE safe to purchase harddrive? Or will they con me? Because i know that buying electronic gadgets like game consoles around there not very adviseable but not so sure about harddrive.

Thanks.

And lastly which portable/external harddrive will you recommend me to purchase?

Thanks again.

1.Same,in fact u can buy ur own hdd & slot it in the ext casing
2.R u looking for an ext or int hdd ?
3.Sori i am not sure abt Mac but win no problem
4.For $200 u can get 1.5TB ext or int hdd (3.5") & 640gb ext or int hdd (2.5")
5.SLS is cheap but pls compare the price list b4 purchasing
For me is either WD or Seagate

u wanna ext 2.5" or 3.5"??....

2.5" do not need any ext power sources, just plug into any USB port and you can use, small and slim, but more exp
3.5" need ext power sources, the data transfer is also via USB , big and bulky, but cheaper

2.5" vs 3.5"
Seagate 500GB $149 vs $99

just an illustration of the price diff, dun use it as a guide, every shop have diff price.

For simplicity, i think what u can do is go to SLS, go to reputable shops like Fuwell, Bells, and buy a 250gig 2.5" external Harddisk (got many design and brand, like seagate, WD) take ur time and see which design / price point u like. its just abt the same.
