Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed Ronaldo will play from the start against Cagliari on Sunday afternoon, but Clarence Seedorf and Pippo Inzaghi are sidelined.
Il Fenomeno has not set foot on the field in official competition this term after picking up a mysterious injury in August that dragged on for months and required two different sets of treatment.
“Finally Ronaldo will be there from the start,” said the Milan Coach in a real sigh of relief.
However, he urged the media and fans not to expect fireworks right away from the Brazilian striker.
“Ronaldo has never played a consistent 90 minutes and he never will. He has particular characteristics and those are enough for us.
“He has moments of great genius and creativity, so we are focusing on them. I am convinced that he can do well.”
Ronnie has played in friendly games to get back match-fitness, including this week’s charity event in Madrid against Zinedine Zidane’s all-stars.
But it will be his first Serie A tie since the encounter with Reggina at the Stadio Granillo on May 27 and is live on Five, kick-off 14.00 Sunday.
If Ronaldo returns, then Seedorf and Inzaghi sit out the trip to Sardinia, as neither are in the squad for the Cagliari game.
“Seedorf picked up a knock in training and sprained his ankle. He had not played with his national team midweek, so it is a shame, he would have been fresh,” explained Ancelotti.
“Kakha Kaladze and Dario Simic just returned from international duty yesterday and are very tired, so I’m afraid we’ll have to ask Kaka to do overtime again.
“Inzaghi had a bit of a temperature last night and so Alberto Gilardino will start upfront alongside Ronaldo. My only doubts over the line-up are for the full-backs.”
Massimo Oddo and Giuseppe Favalli are the favourites to take those roles, as Kaladze’s absence means Paolo Maldini should return to central defence, although Marcos Cafu and Serginho provide South American alternatives.
“Cagliari changed Coach and we don’t know how this new side will present itself. It will certainly be a complicated match, but we have worked well and can get the win.
“Nedo Sonetti has a lot of experience, is very determined and will make his mark on Cagliari.”
Pasquale Foggia will also be eager to make a good impression, as he was on Milan’s books but repeatedly loaned out.
“He is a player who prefers to move out wide, so in our tactical system he didn’t find much space,” explained Ancelotti.
MILAN - This is the list of called-up players for Cagliari announced by Carlo Ancelotti at the end of the training session:
GOALKEEPERS: Dida, Fiori, Kalac

Ronaldo Not To Be Offered New Milan Contract?
Injury-plagued Milan striker Ronaldo may not be offered a new contract by the club, according to Tuttosport.
El Fenomeno signed for the Rossoneri from Real Madrid in January of this year on an 18-month contract.
The 31-year-old made an impressive start to life at San Siro, scoring seven goals in 14 games up until the end of last season.
Ronaldo then picked up an injury in July and he only made his first appearance of this campaign in last Sunday’s 2-1 win over Cagliari.
However just days later the ex-Inter star pulled up with a calf problem whilst warming up before the midweek Champions League match with Benfica.
Coach Carlo Ancelotti decided to keep Ronaldo on the bench for the entire 90 minutes, and it has now been revealed that he will not be fit for tomorrow’s crunch match with Juventus.
As Ronaldo’s contract with Milan runs out next summer, this means that he will be able to talk to other clubs from January.
In order to prevent the possibility of a Bosman free transfer, the Rossoneri have just over a month to present Ronnie with a new deal.
However according to Tuttosport this may not be forthcoming unless the Brazilian can prove that his injury problems are behind him.
Palermo hitman Amauri has already been touted as a possible replacement, while 18-year-old wonderkid Alexandre Pato will also be available from January, thus further reducing the importance of the three-times FIFA World Player of the Year.
If he continue to be injured, then it's better we let him go. Yes, he is a good striker. But we cannot afford to have a player so long on a treatment table, especially in Milan where we don't have depth in the squad.

Channel4.com's(Milan All-time XI)
Lorenzo BUFFON 1949-59
Goalkeeper who along with Nils Liedholm won four championships with Milan in the 1950s. Made his debut at the age of 20 while he was fourth choice and kept the No 1 jersey for the next decade. Also played 15 times for Italy before moving to Genoa and Inter.
Mauro TASSOTTI 1980-1997
Mauro Tassotti played 581 games in all for the Rossoneri. Was signed from Lazio and went on to become one of the most consistent players in the Italian game. Eventually won international honours, but only after Arrigo Sacchi was national boss.
Franco BARESI 1977-1997
Voted Italy’s Player of the Century, Franco Baresi will long be remembered as one of the all-time greats. Played 716 games for Milan in a 20-year stay that saw him become the lynchpin of one of the strongest defences in the history of the Italian game. When he retired, Milan withdrew his No 6 shirt.
Paolo MALDINI 1985-
Former Italian captain and most capped international player, Maldini established himself as the world’s best left-sided defenders in the early 1990s. The son of another Milan hero in Cesare, Paolo has won almost every single club honour there is available.
Giovanni TRAPATTONI 1960-71
Ex-national Coach, Trapattoni made his name in the game as a tough tackling midfielder with the Rossoneri. Played over a decade with the club and won many honours including two Serie A titles and two European Cups. Famously once man marked Pele out of an international game in 1963.
Frank RIJKAARD 1988-93
Dutch midfielder who was part of the Dutch trio of the classic Milan side of the late 80s. A much under-rated holding midfielder, Rijkaard was perhaps the most important Dutch element of the side. Played 148 Serie A games, scoring 16 goals.
Gianni RIVERA 1960-79
The original Golden Boy of Italian football, this stylish midfielder performed at dizzy heights for Milan for over 15 years. He debuted as a fresh faced 19-year-old shortly after signing from Alessandria and became an established international – even without ever showing the same sort of club form for his country.
Nils LIEDHOLM 1949-61
A master of passing, Liedholm played 359 gamers for the club and scored 81 goals. ‘Liddas’ also successfully coached Milan to the Serie A title and later repeated the feat with Roma. They say he went two seasons without misplacing a pass...
Gunnar NORDAHL 1949-56
Winner of the Capocannoniere crown five times during his time with Milan, the Swedish giant became a legend of the Italian game. Scored 210 goals for the club including 35 League goals in just one season. Nicknamed ‘il pompiere’ – the fireman – due to his profession in his homeland.
Marco VAN BASTEN 1987-95
Flying Dutch centre-forward who was instrumental in Milan’s late 80s and early 90s success. Three times European Footballer of the Year, Van Basten scored 108 goals in 168 matches for the club. Crowned Serie A top scorer twice, he was forced to retire in 1995 due to an ankle injury.
Jose ALTAFINI 1959-66
Brazilian attacker who won the title with Milan in his debut season with the side. The agile forward also became an integral part of the team that lifted the European Cup in 1963. Later played for Napoli and Juventus. Was nicknamed ‘Conileone’ – half rabbit, half lion.

from what i saw last night most of the youngsters couldn't handle the kind of experience and technique provided by veterans such as Emerson and Serginho, but were more comfortable passing around players of similar age.

tonight will be a silent game from the Sud and Nord.
The Milan derby will be silent as the Ultra of Inter and Milan unite in protest against the enhanced anti-hooliganism laws.
“A derby without freedom to celebrate does not deserve our warmth,” read a statement released in conjunction by the Curva Nord Milano 1969 and Milan’s Curva Sud.
“This is a decision that troubled us, but has been made by the two organised fan groups as a provocation to force people to reflect on the perseverance of a repressive approach that is mutilating, if not completely annihilating, the healthy aspects of the Ultra.”
This suggests that not only will the two Curve – the ends of the stadium where the hardline fans sit – be silent during the match, but they will also refuse to bring out the choreographed giant banners and pyrotechnics that make the Milan derby such a spectacular event.
It is a protest against the new laws brought into effect after the rioting that followed the accidental shooting of Lazio supporter Gabriele Sandri.
Some of the moves were clampdowns on organised groups of supporters travelling to away games, while others required a fax to police several days before the match confirming what banners would be displayed.
The shock announcement comes during the same weekend that FIGC President Giancarlo Abete opened the door to an easier rapport with the Ultra.
“We intend to dialogue with the non-violent Ultra to overcome the difficulties that we have had to face in recent years,” he told ‘Sport 2000.’
“2008 will be a difficult year and one of recovery as we try to get back the important values in football. Violence must be removed from stadiums and the sport become an event to be celebrated.
“Those who makes mistakes will pay, they cannot think of living in an Eden outside of reality.”

___________________________________________________________________
First of all ****!!!!!!! What a sad team and especially this management is - how I despise them! Inter with half of their startes not starting whoop on us, no Viera, no Crespo, no Stankovic and they still beat us. If Suazo came on earlier he would run circles around Maldini and we would have been down even more. WTF are we thinking as a team, what effing substiutes did Ancelotti made?
Emerson for Gattuso, like that 75 year old crap could do something?! Serginho (who was not bad today) for Seedorf, our creative player, ohh WHY?!! Gila for Pippo, who cannot do anything on his own, runs around like a chicken with their head cut off. Where was Gourcuff or Brocchi, where was Jankulowski?
If not for Kaka, Pirlo and Nesta we would have sucked ass. We NEED new blood, younger players. I have seen Pato play few times and have heard how great he is, but he ALONE cannot fix this pathetic team, because we need new defenders and more midfield to be creative.
Oddo was off by about quarter mile on his crosses, while Dida, well why even comment on his performance. We all knew that he was bad 3 years ago even though the management has kept him. It's like Berlusconi and Galliani are in love with old Brazillian crap players, it's their fetish. ****ing sad, patheric old men. I despise their mentality!!!
We have 18 points, 18 ****ing points from 14 games, while inter have 43 from 17. We are 11 points from the 4th spot, HOW BAD ARE WE?!!! And no we don't need any change according to effing bold piece of ****.
Forget the awful reffereeing, it's our fault for this loss and for this season's performance. If i lived in Milan, I would boycott going to the home games so the management could just MAYBE try something different.
****!!! This is so frustrating, I have no words.

WUAHAHAHAHA. :s13::s13::s13:
i think it was a bad decision to bring on Emerson for Gattuso. should have brought on Brocchi instead. taking Gattuso off was probably to prevent him from getting a red considering how the tackles started flying around from the 70th minute onwards. Brocchi plays better in Milan than Emerson.
probably should have taken Maldini off around 65 and put on Jankulovski. two alternate attacking full backs may have given us more options since Oddo was really cut off the right flank badly.
replacing Pippo with Gilardino was a mistake. if Ancelotti wanted to play either one of them, play them all the way. sooner or later they will find the net.

Player Ratings: Inter - AC Milan
Inter defeated Milan 2-1 in an enthralling derby this afternoon. Carlo Garganese rates the performances...
INTER
Julio Cesar - 6.5: The Brazilian shot-stopper did not have too many saves to make during the game, but he pulled off one fine stop from Kaka towards the end and was generally safe throughout.
Maicon - 6.5: Bombed forward from right back in typical fashion, however he was caused a few problems defensively by Milan substitute Serginho in the second-half.
Cordoba - 7.5: Another rock-solid game from the Colombian stopper, who controlled Inzaghi in the first-half and Gilardino in the second. Did give away the free-kick for Pirlo's goal though.
Samuel - 6: Samuel only lasted 36 minutes of the match due to a knee injury, although he was relatively sound during this time, except for one mesmerising run by Kaka.
Maxwell - 6.5: Maxwell was caused few problems defensively, although he did not make the impact going forward that we have become accustomed to recently.
Zanetti - 8: Another outstanding game from one of the world's most consistent players over the past decade. At the age of 34 he is still world-class and he produced a fantastic tackle on Kaka during a one-on-one duel in the first half.
Chivu - 7.5: Chivu is getting stronger and stronger every game since his summer move from Roma. Formed a dominant centre-midfield partnership with Cambiasso.
Cambiasso - 8.5: If there is a better defensive midfielder in world football at the moment I want to know that players name. Cambiasso was once again superb at the heart of Inter's midfield.
Jimenez - 7: Jimenez has proved to be a valuable understudy to the injured Luis Figo and caused Milan a number of problems with his skill and direct running with the ball.
Ibrahimovic - 5.5: Poor display from the Swedish superstar. Was completely marked out of the match by Alessandro Nesta and showed only a few glimpses of his talent.
Cruz - 7: A relatively quiet game from Cruz but a striker's job is to score goals and he was once again on the scoresheet with a great left-footed finish to haul Inter level on 36 minutes. The most under-rated player in Serie A?
Substitutes
Materazzi (for Samuel on 36 minutes) - 7: Solid display by the hardman who was booked just minutes after coming onto the field. Made one brilliant block on a Nesta shot in the second half.
Pele (for Jimenez 79) - 6: Was brought on for the last 10 minutes to shore up the midfield but had little time to make much of an impact
Suazo (for Cruz 85) - 6: Only offered five minutes at the end but the Honduran did launch a dangerous counter-attack with his blistering pace, only for Ibrahimovic to fire high and wide.
MILAN
Dida - 3: Cost his team the match with a simply disastrous error on Cambiasso's winning goal. A Sunday league goalkeeper would be ashamed to make such a howler, let alone a Serie A shot-stopper. Milan surely need to find a replacement for 'Calamity Dida'.
Oddo - 6: Oddo has been in poor form this season, however he was generally sound in this match. His trademark crosses were comfortably dealt with though by the imposing Inter backline.
Maldini - 5.5: Maldini was holding his own, despite his advancing years, until a poor defensive header gifted Cambiasso the ball for his winner on 62 minutes. However he wouldn't have been punished for this mistake if it hadn't been for the disastrous Dida.
Nesta - 9: Absolutely outstanding and the undoubted man-of-the-match despite the fact Milan lost. Nesta made Zlatan Ibrahimovic look more like Peter Crouch, by completely dominating the Swedish star. How Italy could do with him at Euro 2008.
Kaladze - 7: Kaladze stood strong alongside the flawless Nesta and like his centre back partner was rarely troubled by either Ibrahimovic or Cruz.
Gattuso - 5.5: Had a poor first half before being withdrawn at half time due to injury. The fire and energy in Gattuso's legs seemed to be missing. He was noticeably a yard slower to every ball today - perhaps his injury may explain today's performance.
Ambrosini - 6.5: Ambrosini was second best to Chivu and Cambiasso in the midfield battle, although having said this, his intelligent runs into the box could have provided Milan with an equaliser. Missed a golden chance at the end to earn Milan a point when he failed to connect with a Serginho cross.
Pirlo - 7: Unsurprisingly Milan's most creative midfielder, he was cool in possession and scored an absolutely magnificent free-kick. The technique that is required to whip a ball up and over the wall from right on the edge of the area is something very few players in the world can do. Pirlo is certainly in this world-class select few.
Seedorf - 5.5: Very poor game from the inconsistent Dutchman. Was caught in possession repeatedly and failed to make any impact on the match whatsoever. Rightly substituted.
Kaka - 6: Not one of the Brazilian superstar's better games. Cambiasso denied Kaka the space that he thrives on, although he did go on one scintillating solo run in the first half, and forced a fine save out of Julio Cesar in the second. Apart from this he was very quiet.
Inzaghi - 5.5: SuperPippo was not so super today, and was way too isolated to make an impact. However he did trick Cordoba into giving away the free-kick for Pirlo's opener.
Substitutes
Emerson (for Gattuso on 46 minutes) - 5.5: Seriously what is the point of Emerson at Milan? The 31-year-old is the most perfect example of a ‘has-been’ that there is in football. While at Roma he was simply world-class, he is now a shadow of that once fine player.
Serginho (for Seedorf on 57 minutes) - 7: Impressive substitute performance from Serginho who caused Inter a few headaches down the left and was at the centre of virtually all of Milan's attacking moves in the second half.
Gilardino (for Inzaghi on 46 minues) - 6: Gilardino works hard bless him but it is clear that he does not have the ability to be playing at one of European football's biggest clubs. Defenders of the calibre of Cordoba and Materazzi cope with strikers of Gilardino's like all day long.

Jankulovski or Serginho should have started in place of Maldini..
according to statistics by this time last season we won 7 times, drew 7 and lost 4. a total of 18 games played, which gave us 29 points to end 2006 off with.
the first half of this season ends with us winning 4 times, drawing 6 times and losing 4 games as well, a total of 14 games (3 in hand) which gives us 18 points to end this half with. we must win all 3 of those games in hand. against Livorno, Atalanta and Reggina.
at the end of last season we had won 19, drew 8 times and lost 7 times, ending our 2006/2007 season with 61 points. in order to get at least 70 points, our bare minimum number of wins will have to be 21, allowing for 1 more draw and no more loss. which is quite impossible unless we spend spend spend in January. :(

Spending is good, but can we get good players in Jan? Clubs are unwilling to sell important players in Jan.
Another question is whether we can get players who are not champions league tied? I rather we wait till the summer and do a massive clearing out.
Serie A is out of question liao. Let's concentrate on the the CL spot, coppa italia and CL.

Ronaldo Set For Milan Exit
Milan forward Ronaldo will not sign a new deal with the club, according to the latest transfer speculation, as he is looking for a move to either USA or Saudi Arabia.
Ronaldo's adventure with the Rossoneri is set to end in June along with his current contract.
With a mere six months remaining on his deal, so far neither party has approached the other for the negotiation of a new deal.
General manager Adriano Galliani had declared in previous days that there was no problem with the player, but Ronaldo seems to have lost interest in remaining at Milan.
Instead, rumour has it that he will look for a lucrative final offer in his career to play in the MLS or in Saudi Arabia, as his agents have already starting negotiating with some teams.
His most likely destination would be the Los Angeles Galaxy, where his former team-mate David Beckham would welcome him with arms wide open, but that is not the only team requesting his services.
Ronaldo's future will most likely be decided in January as Milan will want to know where they stand before going in the transfer market to search for a new attacker.

DUBAI – The UAE will warm-up for the opening game of the third stage of their 2010 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign with a friendly match against UEFA Champions League winners AC Milan in Dubai on January 8.
Bruno Metsu’s side will use the meeting with Milan, who defeated AFC Champions League winners Urawa Reds 1-0 in the FIFA Club World Cup on Thursday, to prepare for their opening Group Five fixture against Gulf rivals Kuwait, which has been scheduled for February 6.
The 17-time Italian champions will be in the UAE from January 2 for a week of winter training and have been brought to the Gulf through their association with Emirates, an official partner of the AFC Champions League and official sponsor of the AFC Asian Cup.
“It is very exciting that through our partnership with AC Milan, Emirates is able to bring them to Dubai, where football fans here will be able to watch them train and see them play against our own UAE team,” said Gaith Al Gaith, the airline’s Executive Vice President of Commercial Operations Worldwide.

Milan To Let Eight Players Leave In June
AC Milan will begin a squad revolution by allowing eight players to leave at the end of the season, according to the Gazzetta dello Sport.
The first is the legendary Paolo Maldini, who will retire 23-and-a-half years after making his club debut way back in January of 1985.
Ronaldo will also move on as his contract runs out in the summer, and the Milan hierarchy are refusing to offer him a renewal due to the constant injury problems that have seen him play just once this season.
Rossoneri fans would be happy to see accident-prone goalkeeper Nelson Dida leave the club immediately, however the lack of a valid alternative will see him stay until June, when he will then be replaced, probably by Fiorentina’s Sebastien Frey.
A number of defensive veterans are also set to leave the club. The 37-year-old Cafu signed a one-year contract extension in the summer, however this will almost certainly be his final renewal.
Cafu’s Brazilian compatriot Serginho will turn 37 in June, and despite still demonstrating some blistering pace, he will leave after nine years at the club.
Fellow left back Giuseppe Favalli has a contract at San Siro until 2009, however he is now surplus to requirements and will probably see the final year of his deal paid up in full.
Croatian stopper Dario Simic, who is set for a loan move to Lazio in a few days, will be sold to a club that can offer him first team football.
Finally young French midfielder Yoann Gourcuff, a player likened by some to a young Zinedine Zidane, has been told by Coach Carlo Ancelotti that he has no future with the Rossoneri.

once the Cafu, Serginho, Favalli and Maldini retire, Simic will have more options at the back provided Zambrotta and Barzagli don't arrive.

It will be disappointing to watch potential youngsters leave the club and then watch Milan struggle to find a decent player to replace their aging players in the later seasons.

Ronaldo is back in full training with Milan after six weeks and scored a goal in today’s game between ranks.
Il Fenomeno had not trained with the ball between his feet for 38 days, as his mystery calf problem had kept him on a succession of tests and physiotherapy tables.
The trip to Brazil seems to have done him good, as Ronnie was in good shape when he resumed training with his teammates in Dubai.
He took part in two sessions and the game between ranks, his first since November 27, when the calf twinge prevented him from stepping on to the pitch as a substitute against Benfica in Lisbon.
Despite flying to Japan for the Club World Cup, he had been unable to take part in any of the training sessions.
Reports suggest that in Dubai today Ronaldo was able to sprint on the sand and even managed to score with a left-foot angled drive.
“It’s going better,” he smiled to journalists. It remains to be seen when he will be ready for a match situation, but it is progress for the man who has played once since July 31.

Milan Offer Gilardino For Frey – Report
AC Milan are ready to offer Alberto Gilardino in a part-exchange offer to sign Fiorentina goalkeeper Sebastien Frey, according to the Corriere della Sera.
Rossoneri boss Carlo Ancelotti has lost all faith in current shot-stopper Nelson Dida, who has made a huge number of catastrophic errors this season.
Milan have drawn up a list of possible replacements for the Brazilian, and the names include Fiorentina’s Sebastien Frey, Celtic’s Artur Boruc, and PSV Eindhoven’s Gomes.
Ancelotti’s favoured option is Frenchman Frey, who has been absolutely outstanding this term.
In order to get Frey, Milan will offer forward flop Alberto Gilardino in part-exchange. The 25-year-old signed for the Rossoneri in 2005 from Parma and there were high expectations of the big frontman.
However Gila has been a huge disappointment and has shown few signs that he is capable of playing for such a prestigious club.
Fiorentina Coach Cesare Prandelli is an admirer of Gilardino having worked successfully with him in the past at Parma, and is keen to re-unite with the player.
Gilardino scored an impressive 50 goals in 96 games during his three-year spell at the Ennio Tardini.

Gila on target in Dubai
Alberto Gilardino scored both goals as Milan defeated the United Arab Emirates 2-0, but Ronaldo showed he has a long way to go.
The Rossoneri concluded their mid-season training camp in Dubai with a friendly victory over the UAE national side at the Al Maktoum stadium.
Gilardino came on for the second half and bagged a brace in the final 12 minutes, at full stretch to meet a Kaka cross-shot and then firing in at the near post.
These goals and a good overall performance boost Gila’s chances of starting Sunday night’s big match against Napoli.
It is increasingly likely that Gilardino will partner 18-year-old debutant Alexandre Pato with support from Kaka against Napoli.
Pippo Inzaghi is also a major doubt for this weekend, as he has just been released from hospital with a painful kidney stone injury.
Pato is already at the Milanello training ground and underwent a special double session today in a bid to be at full fitness for this Sunday.
Other impressive performances in Dubai came from Zeljko Kalac and Yoann Gourcuff, the Frenchman going close to a goal and creating a great chance for Marcos Cafu.
Ronaldo makes Milan pledge
Ronaldo has reassured fans he wants to remain at Milan and “earn my place” in the side despite Flamengo’s offer.
“It is true that Flamengo are interested in me, but I have never said or written anything about this matter,” pointed out Ronaldo on Milan Channel this evening.
“My desire is to earn my place at Milan because this is the team where I want to play, the club that always put faith in me. What counts now is that I feel good and want to return to playing football.”
He played 45 minutes in today’s 2-0 friendly win over the United Arab Emirates in Dubai and hopes to make his Serie A comeback at the weekend.
“After this friendly I can say I am in good shape and at the Coach’s disposal for the Serie A game against Napoli,” added Ronaldo.

Milan Prepare £100 Million Makeover
The Corriere dello Sport has released sensational claims that AC Milan will invest an incredible £100 million over the summer in revamping the current squad...
Though they are club champions of the world and Europe, one cannot deny that things are not going so well at Milan.
The squad of champions is looking jaded; domestically they are suffering, they are 12th in Serie A and even winning their games in hand will not get them up into the European places.
They are drastically underachieving and at this rate there is a very real possibility they may not even be able to compete in Europe's major club competitions next year.
Much of the bad form has been put down to the age of the squad, and with that in mind there is a reported revolution on the cards over the summer, whereby a lucrative sponsorship deal with Adidas will give the rossoneri £100 million to spend.
Reportedly on the list of players wanted by the Milan boad are Ronaldinho (pictured), Gianluca Zambrotta, Sebastian Frey, Amauri and more.
Ronaldinho has been admired by chairman Silvio Berlusconi for a long time, and it is thought the Brasilian will need a change of club to rediscover his best form, a la Zinedine Zidane's move to Real Madrid from Juventus.
Zambrotta, or more accurately, his wife is reportedly home-sick in Catalunia and longs to return to Italy. The experienced, classy and versatile full-back would fit the Milanese mould almost seamlessly.
Frey may be in order purely due to the comical string of errors from current number one Nelson Dida, whose position is becoming increasingly unstable at the San Siro.
Amauri has been incredibly impressive during his Serie A career, and as he is hitting his prime it is thought Milan want to bring the strong forward into the arena of Champions League football.
Defenders Willy Sagnol and Andrea Dossena were also mentioned in the report, as were midfielders Luka Modric and Kim Kallstrom. It is currently unclear just how much of this masterplan will come to fruition, but it is certain to get fans talking between now and the end of the season in May...

well done Gila..
Alberto Gilardino’s winner against Udinese may prolong his career at Milan as Vice-President Adriano Galliani admits he has had a change of heart.
Things had looked bleak for the Azzurri hitman prior to kick-off in Udine as new boy Alexandre Pato took his place in the starting line-up and there was intense speculation that Gila’s days in the Rossoneri shirt were numbered.
However, the ex-Parma man silenced the critics by finding the crucial goal in stoppage time - having only been on the pitch since the 83rd minute - and it could prove to be one of the most important goals of his career.
“Gilardino has always been important for us,” Galliani claimed in Tuttosport. “We have never considered selling him.
“We have a meeting scheduled with his agent in two or three months, but only so that we can reiterate our complete faith in the lad.
“Yes, I have changed my mind on him and I wouldn’t sell him even if we were offered £15m.”
While Coach Carlo Ancelotti has always stressed his faith in Gilardino, the struggling striker could hardly have chosen a better time to score after director Piersilvio Berlusconi’s statement on Saturday that he was “yet to prove himself.”

Calcio Debate: Is Gilardino Good Enough For Milan?
Following Milan’s disappointing 2-1 defeat at Atalanta last night – Carlo Garganese highlights the individual performance of Alberto Gilardino and asks whether the player is good enough to play for the Rossoneri…
Anyone who watched the game in Bergamo last night will tell you that Alberto Gilardino was not the only Milan player to disappoint. Daniele Bonera and Alessandro Nesta had rings run round them by Antonio Langella, Kakha Kaladze made a disastrous error that resulted in Atalanta’s winner, Giuseppe Favalli was awful as usual, while Alexandre Pato looked like a school-kid and missed a glorious one-on-one.
Gilardino has been under-fire for quite some now and it has become increasingly obvious for the past two years now that the striker is just simply not good enough for a club of the stature of Milan.
This does not mean that Gilardino is a bad player – he proved at Parma when he scored 23 times in consecutive Serie A seasons that at smaller and mid-table teams (even those fighting for UEFA Cup qualification) he can be a superbly useful player.
The biggest problem of all is that Gila just does not have the technical ability required to play for one of Europe’s giants, more so a team like Milan who base their game on these qualities.
The 25-year-old has no skill, he cannot create an opportunity for himself and in simple terms he is what in England is called a “lumbering centre forward”. Filippo Inzaghi has none of these attributes either, but what he does have, or did in his prime, is brilliant striker intelligence.
This is not the case for Gilardino. His movement is abysmal, in fact he is almost always static. His anticipation is poor, and so are his reactions. In order to be a penalty-box striker, these things are vital and this explains why Inzaghi is the most prolific goalscorer in the history of European competition.
We often hear arguments from Gilardino-supporters of how he scored 17 goals in Serie A in his first season at Milan, that he hit 12 last campaign, and that he has six to his name this year.
However, how many of these goals were against the top teams?
Well I will tell you.
In 2005/06, of Gilardino’s 17 goals, none were scored against the Big Four. Gila failed to hit the back of the net in both games against Juve, Inter and Roma. All of his strikes were against mid-table and relegation-threatened opposition such as Treviso, Reggina, Messina and Cagliari.
In 2006/07 he scored just twice in six games against the three other teams in the Champions League places (Inter, Roma and Lazio). And one of these, against Inter, came when Milan were already being thumped 4-1 by their city rivals and had nothing to play for but pride.
Finally this season Gila has failed to hit the back of the net against any of the big teams; Inter, Roma and Juve.
His record in the Champions League is even worse. In 2005/06 he failed to hit the back of the net in 10 games as Milan reached the semi-final. He scored just twice in 11 matches last year, while there has been a very slight improvement this term with two strikes in the group stages.
What this surely tells us is that Gilardino, when faced by stronger opposition and better defenders, is simply not up to the task.
When he plays against smaller Serie A sides he can hold his own, and it is against these teams that he accumulates all of his goals. However against top-class and world-class players it just doesn’t look like the 25-year-old has the ability.
Quite why Milan continue to insist that Gilardino is the right player for them I simply don’t understand.
What are your views on this topic? Is Gilardino good enough for Milan? Is he more suited at a smaller team? Goal.com wants to know what YOU think.

If you are to compare him with the better strikers of Serie A, he isn't really outstanding. I personally feel that he is quite slow to react to his teammates passes and is often caught offside. Not really very pacy and seldom looking confident infront. I believe this is happening. But if you are a striker and you aren't netting in goals, it is hard to be thinking about starting frequently. Maybe Ancelotti should loan him out with hope that he can regain his form.
I believe he has potential. He just needs to pull himself outta this and regain his touch, like those days before Milan plucked him away from Parma. I seriously hope to see him shine and score goals for both Milan and Italy as Italy is also lacking of a fresh generation of strikers

Pato Injury Leads To Striker Crisis Ahead Of Arsenal Clash
Alexandre Pato is set to be out of action for at least three weeks, according to reports in Italy, thus leaving Milan with a forward crisis on their hands.
The teenage wonderkid came off the bench last night to score Milan’s winner at Fiorentina, however he was then stretchered off the pitch in agony in the closing stages after badly twisting his ankle.
It will not be known for sure until tomorrow exactly what damage Pato has suffered and for how long he will be out for.
Latest reports though suggest that he will be missing for a minimum of three weeks, which means he will fail to make the Champions League last 16 first leg against Arsenal two weeks on Wednesday.
This would be a huge blow for Milan as Pato has been a revelation since making his debut against Napoli, and has been the key factor in turning around the club’s domestic season.
With Pato in the side, the Rossoneri have won five of their six matches in Serie A, with the Brazilian scoring four times during this time.
Coach Carlo Ancelotti now faces going into this weekend’s home match against Siena without a recognised striker.
Alberto Gilardino is suspended, Filippo Inzaghi and Ronaldo are still struggling to recover from injury, while even Kaka is hampered by some fitness concerns and may be forced to sit out.
“We are back in an emergency situation," admitted Ancelotti last night.
"With Gilardino suspended, we hope that Pippo Inzaghi or Ronaldo can recover for next Sunday."
This is clearly a desperate situation ahead of the mouth-watering clash with Premiership-leaders Arsenal. Midfield terrier Gennaro Gattuso is also set to miss the first leg in London due to injury.

Milan ace Kaka has again pledged his future to the Rossoneri and suggested that he could spend the rest of his career at San Siro.
Despite repeatedly stating his love for the world champions, Kaka is regularly linked with La Liga champions Real Madrid in the Spanish Press.
The Merengues have made no secret of their desire to lure 2007’s FIFA World Player of the Year, but the Selecao hero is married to the Diavolo jersey.
“I would like to finish my career with Milan,” Kaka told Spanish newspaper Publicò.
“I want to win more with this club and one day become captain, as I love the city, the team and the country.
“Transfer speculation is a part of football, but I have always made it clear that my intention is to stay here. Anything else you hear is just rumour and it doesn’t bother me.”
Reports suggest that Kaka was delighted by the addition of young compatriot Alexandre Pato in January and that the strong contingent of Brazilian stars at Milan has made a key contribution to his contentment.

Interesting.
La Gazzetta dello Sport has created an alternative Serie A table where refereeing errors are corrected and Juventus lead the pack.
As controversy rages over alleged ‘favouritism’ in Inter’s favour and confidence in the officials plummets, a survey was undertaken to see which sides have suffered the most at the hands of the referees.
Research showed that Milan had been treated most harshly and would be sitting in fourth place, were it not for questionable decisions.
Inter were awarded eight points fewer after review and lose their supremacy at the top to Juve, who have benefited six times from errors but been unjustly penalised on nine occasions.
La Gazzetta dello Sport’s Serie A table:
Juventus 48 points
Inter 45
Roma 45
Milan 41
Fiorentina 36
Atalanta 33
Palermo 28
Sampdoria 28
Udinese 28
Napoli 27
Genoa 26
Reggina 25
Lazio 24
Livorno 23

FIFA awards special 'Club World Champion' badge to AC Milan
At a ceremony today at the Home of FIFA in Zurich, FIFA General Secretary Jerome Valcke officially presented a badge to AC Milan's CEO Adriano Galliani to honour their club's victory at the 2007 FIFA Club World Cup. This new badge will also be provided to the winning club of all future editions of the competition. Milan will wear the badge on their jerseys throughout 2008 until the new FIFA Club World champion is crowned in December this year.
With the club world champion badge, FIFA intends to honour the titleholder and the future winners of its prestigious club event. "The new badge is taking up and extending the existing tradition of displaying stars above team crests that, albeit not official, have become part and parcel of the history of the game," said FIFA General Secretary Jerome Valcke. "FIFA will also honour the three previous winners of the FIFA Club World Cup from Brazil - Corinthians, Sao Paulo FC and Sport Club Internacional - with a similar distinction."
"AC Milan are very proud to be the first club to display this badge on their jerseys," commented AC Milan CEO Adriano Galliani. "The history of our club is closely linked to international club competitions such as the former Intercontinental Cup and now the FIFA Club World Cup. Our triumph in Japan is considered to be a special milestone by our club and our fans."
AC Milan and Brazil star Kaka, also voted best player at the FCWC 2007, hailed the initiative as "a great idea. The symbol will remind everyone that we're the club world champions and that, until next December, no-one can take that title from us. It would be fantastic to win the Champions League again so that we can have a chance to defend this emblem."
The new badge acknowledges the achievement of winning the FIFA Club World Cup, a competition that brings together the top club team from each confederation. The winning club may display the badge on their jerseys for one year, right up until the final whistle of the next FIFA Club World Cup. The badge features an image of the trophy and the text "AC Milan Champions 2007".
In association football, some national and club sides include one or more stars as part of (or beside) the crest on their shirt to represent important trophies that the team has previously won.
According to various football history sources, the first team to adopt a star was Juventus in Italy, who added a star above their crest in 1958 to represent their tenth Serie A title. This was an extension of the convention by which the reigning champions are entitled to display the scudetto on their shirts for the following season. The star was later formally adopted as a symbol for ten titles. Besides Juventus, AC Milan and their city rivals Internazionale are also allowed to use such a star.
In national team football, Brazil currently display five stars, one for each FIFA World Cup victory in 1958, 1962, 1970, 1994 and 2002. Brazil placed three stars above their crest after winning their third FIFA World Cup™ in 1970. Italy did likewise in 1982 and today have four. All world champions have since followed suit. Uruguay display four stars due to their triumphs in the 1924 and 1928 Olympic Football Tournaments, which they regard as equivalent to their subsequent FIFA World Cup wins, as there was no FIFA World Cup competition at the time.

Poor Ronaldo is down.. there is rumours that he may retire?? I have always regard him as the best in the history of soccer. I have watched Pele and Maradona play, but I guess Ronaldo goes 1 notch higher...
"In his prime, in the years 1996-99, probably only Maradona could boast that explosive ability to take on players and win a match individually by himself.

The best compilation of Maldini... Very well done.
My favourite player of al time, my nick cld have been maldini instead if not for it was already taken. World best left back that remain loyal during the Milan's troubled yr between 95-02 where languish in mid table and did not even qualify for europe contention. a VERY BIG THANK YOU!!
"The best indication of his current stature is what is known as The Maldini Effect. Whenever a young striker sprints in toward the Milan goal and sees il capitano standing before him, his nerve goes. He passes when he should have run on or shoots long before he has the proverbial snowball's chance at hitting the goal. Wayne Rooney was a notable victim a couple of years ago.
Maldini is well aware of his imposing reputation. When he makes international appearances these days, opposing players not only ask to exchange jerseys, some request autographs. Maldini always obliges."

Clichy – 6.5: Was not troubled too much defensively but made no impact whatsoever as an attacking force.
Eboue - 8.0: Very lively and tricky, he looked dangerous every time he picked up the ball. Perhaps should have done better with his chance at the beginning of the second-half.
Flamini – 6.5: Typical spirited performance from Flamini. Kept Kaka quiet in the first half, but the Brazilian caused him problems after the break.
Fabregas – 7.5: An absolute class act. Dictated much of the play in midfield, and won his battle of the playmakers with Pirlo hands down.
Hleb – 5.5: Not at his best. Oddo comfortably dealt with the skilful Belarusian, who had more joy when he drifted off to the right.
Eduardo – 4.0: Anonymous was the Croatian. Not at the races at all. Contributed nothing to the cause.
Adebayor - 7.0: A real handful Adebayor but was lacking the quality support alongside him in attack. Will not want to see his open-goal miss at the end.
Substitutes: Senderos – 8, Bendtner - 6, Walcott - 6
AC Milan
Kalac - 7: Did not have to pull off any real top-drawer saves but had plenty of efforts to deal with. The Aussie did not put a foot wrong and his handling and decision-making was superb.
Oddo – 7.5: Excellent. Nullified the dangerous Hleb and attacked well down the right-flank. Squandered Milan’s best chance of the match though.
Nesta - 8.0: Absolutely superb until he limped off with a groin injury. His battle with Adebayor was a joy to watch. Name me a better centre-back in world football.
Kaladze – 8.0: Rock solid as well. When the Georgian cuts out his usual one-mistake-a-game, like tonight, he is a class act.
Maldini – 9.0: He may be 39 but he played like he was 29. Looked uncomfortable at times on the left in the first half but when he switched to centre back after Nesta’s injury he was immaculate. Legend.
Ambrosini – 6.5: Battled well in the centre of midfield and did not stop running until the last minute.
Gattuso - 6.5: Fiery performance from the midfield terrier, who like Ambrosini, closed the space in between the defence and midfield.
Pirlo – 4.5: This was not the Pirlo that has delighted Calcio fans this season. Gave the ball away repeatedly, was out-muscled, and hindered rather than helped Milan. His time will surely come in the second leg.
Seedorf - 4.5: The Dutchman was also very quiet tonight. Him and Pirlo must have been sampling the London nightlife last night given their lethargic displays.
Kaka – 7.0: Quiet in the first half but was a real threat in the second, going on a number of explosive surges.
Pato - 6.0: His potential was there for everyone to see, but it is clear he still has a lot of maturing to do. Nevertheless his lightning pace meant that the Arsenal defence was scared to push up too high.
Subs: Jankulovski: 5.5, Gilardino: 6.0; Emerson N.A.

Fans Beg Maldini To Keep Playing
AC Milan legend Paolo Maldini has been flooded with messages from supporters begging him not to retire from football.
The 39-year-old has announced that he will be hanging up his boots at the end of the season, following almost a quarter-of-a-century at the very top.
On Wednesday night Maldini made his 1001st professional appearance during Milan’s 0-0 Champions League last 16 first leg draw with Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.
The defender put in a brilliant performance that belied his years and was arguably the man-of-the-match. This display has led to hundreds of Milan supporters begging him to stay.
“Paolo change your mind”, “Il Capitano, don't leave football, you can still give a lot,” “Maldini unique, he must not give up”, “Paolo continue to lead us, continue to play” – these are just a few of the messages he has received.
Maldini however seems unlikely to change his decision, as he explained in the aftermath of the match with Arsenal.
"I think that it will be difficult to change my mind,” he said.
“From the outside you only see the positive things, those that go, but in reality I often find myself with some minor injury which does not allow me to remain calm.
“Continuing would be difficult. After all, my football career gave me a lot, therefore I feel extremely satisfied."
Maldini has stated on a number of occasions that he hopes to end his career in the perfect fashion by lifting the Champions League in Moscow on May 23.

Kaka form had been quite average this season...the ratings for the palermo game.
Player Ratings: Milan 2–1 Palermo
Milan won late thanks to Inzaghi in a game which was dragging towards a 1-1 result before SuperPippo struck in the 90th minute. Glenn Debattista rated the players...
Milan
Kalac – 6.0: Did not have much to do and he could do nothing to prevent Palermo’s goal.
Oddo – 6.5: Unlucky in Palermo’s goal, but made up for it with a great assist for Ambrosini in the Rossoneri’s first goal.
Bonera – 6.0: Solid in defence even though Amauri was a difficult client. In the end he limited the damage.
Kaladze – 6.0: Same as Bonera as he had a relatively quiet evening.
Jankulovski – 6.5: Good when going forward and even had a good opportunity to score.
Gattuso – 7.0: A good game for the midfielder, as he did a lot of dirty work to keep the Rosanero midfield in check.
Pirlo – 6.0: A huge improvement from his disappointing Champions League performance, but his creativity vanished in the second half. It isn't quite happening for the maestro.
Ambrosini – 7.5: Milan’s best midfielder by far. Quantity and quality, in addition to the all-important goal he scored. Seems very fresh too for this stage of the season.
Kakà – 5.5: Very nervous due to the ‘special treatment’ the Palermo players were giving him. Still far away from the levels of last season. Ancelotti replaced him at half time due to the foul he suffered in the 2nd minute of game, which could have conditioned the rest of his first half performance.
Gilardino – 5.0: A ghost, even though to be fair he did not receive too many playable balls thanks to Palermo’s excellent defensive setup.:D
Pato – 5.5: Just like Gilardino, but at least he managed to have one shot on goal, even though that does not justify his hype. Maybe Milan should stop presenting him as the new messiah and give him time to blossom.
Substitutes: Gourcuff – 6.5, Inzaghi – 7.5, Favalli – N/A

It's good to see Milan breaking into the top 4 after a long chase. Looks like a repeat of last season. But before that can happen, Pirlo and Kaka have to regain their touch. Fortunately for the past few games we had Ambrosini working his ass off helping both the defence and on the attack. Btw, he captained the team right ?

I agreed that is a very well execute header. Realli a fox in the box, 1 chance 1 goal.
however I would like to criticise Milan playing style, w/o Kaka in the second half milan are totally clueless in attack. The tactic is too defensive everyone went behind the opposition defence line waiting to be feed with the ball. IMO they need to improve on their passing and need to move around more to create overlapping runs. In the last few minutes, the coach should consider replacing a defender for another sriker...sigh
One thing for sure is Milan are not lacking of luck....

Blog: Curse of the Ballon d’Or
Winning the Golden Ball may not be the pinnacle of a career but, as James Horncastle explains, the ending of it
On winning the Ballon d’Or in December Ricky Kaka told his peers that he would love to imitate Milan legend Marco Van Basten and pick up another two World Player of the Year awards before the end of his career.
The Dutchman collected the accolade three times while with the Rossoneri, inspiring the club to an incredible 16 major titles in eight years throughout which he scored 90 goals in 147 games. He, like Kaka, was a match-winner but tragically had to retire at the age of 30 after being hacked to pieces by opposing defenders. The man they called the ‘Swan’ was given as much respect as the ‘Ugly Duckling’ by hard-men keen to make a name for themselves.
One would think that the similarity between Kaka and Van Basten ends here, but the Brazilian is now being treated to the same overzealous, malicious and downright dangerous tackles that robbed the game and Milan of one of its most outstanding proponents.
The Rossoneri’s outspoken Vice-President Adriano Galliani, who compared the club’s loss of Van Basten to the passing of Leonardo Da Vinci, said: “I am fed up of going into the dressing room and seeing Kaka with ice on his knee. This boy is made to play football not to go into battle. Every game, three or four players take it in turns to hit him. We cannot go on like this.”
So how do we protect the embattled fantasista who, after taking a considerable whack on his left knee against Palermo, will be out of action for at least two games? While Kaka shouldn’t be wrapped in cotton wool and given any special treatment by referees, officials should be made to punish those who systematically target the 25-year-old.
Opposition Coaches should be responsible enough to tone down their war cries. We’ve all heard: “Don’t give’em too much respect, let’em know you’re about and hit’em hard.” Ronaldo and Eduardo have been recent victims of those. But do we want to see football become a non-contact sport like netball? Apparently not! Referee Frank De Bleeckere was chastised by the media for sending off Marco Materazzi for two ‘soft’ offences against Fernando Torres in Inter’s Champions League tie with Liverpool.
If you ask me, the problem lies with the cursed Ballon d’Or itself which hangs like an albatross around the neck of its recipients. Ronaldinho hasn’t been the same player since winning it, Roberto Baggio and Andriy Shevchenko missed crucial penalties after collecting it. Oh, and the dazzling prize brought unwanted and ultimately fatal attention to Ronaldo and Van Basten. So, here’s a little piece of advice for our Ricky. Follow the example of teammate Paolo Maldini – never win the blasted thing again and eternal youth will be yours.

Coz there was a winter break in between. If we played some games during the winter break, then things wouldn't be so bad. And our players are old, so their stamina will definitely be lower.
With the game against the goners next, we must stay focused and not let the past results affect us. The goners are also going through a bad patch, i just hope that their bad patch continues till end of the season. As a spurs fan also, i don't mind seeing them end up empty handed. :D
Kaka would need to up his game, been a while since i see him giving a man of the match performance.

Player Ratings: AC Milan 1 - 1 Lazio
Carlo Garganese rates the players on show at San Siro on Saturday night...
Kalac - 7.5: Two brilliant saves at the beginning of the second half, one from Rocchi, the other from Pandev.
Oddo - 6.5: A good display by the wing back who never stopped running for his side. Put away his penalty with aplomb.
Bonera -6.0: Read the game well, making a number of good interceptions.
Kaladze – 7.0: The Georgian has been one of Milan’s most impressive players just recently and this was again the case tonight. Won his side the penalty.
Jankulovski - 5.5: Looked a little rusty and was caught out of position on occasions. His crossing was poor also, which may have contributed to his half-time substitution.
Gattuso - 6: Did what he could when he was on the pitch but he failed to stamp his authority on the midfield.
Emerson - 6.0: Kept the team ticking over until he was substituted at half-time for Ambrosini.
Gourcuff – 5.5: Failed to make much of an impact in a creative sense, giving the ball away far too often.
Seedorf -6: Started the game brightly before he was forced off on 36 minutes through injury.
Pato – 7.0: The teenager showed real heart, and had some explosive flashes of brilliance.
Gilardino - 5.0: I don’t enjoy giving Gilardino poor ratings - believe me, I don’t. But once again the striker was completely anonymous.
Subs: Paloschi 6.0, Ambrosini 6.0, Digao 5.0

I think Milan realli need to buy new player that have proven themselves. Our team need players who are hungry for the success. I wont be surprise if Gatuso tells me that he is sick of winning the CL becos he already won it twice, or Seedorf telling me that winning it the 4th time doesnt feel as good as winning it the 1st time
The current team is realli tired, when players are tired, they are prone to injuries. Because of that our old timer are making the string of line up for the serie A. cafu38 and serghino37 favali38. Wah kaoz..
I would like to agree to the fact that Milan did well in recent yrs as they establish themselves as one of the power house in europe. Thanks to anceloti we won the CL, however it is time to have a change of coach. We did well in CL because we are a team that play not to lose, a draw is fine. This mentality is suitable for CL because either we win or lose over 2 legged. However in Serie A is different, a draw is only 1 point whereas a win is 3 points. Milan rarely lost, but we draw too mnay games.
Would't it be a nice to have robinho on the right mid of milan to stretch the opponent defence. hmmm time to sleep early

I think robinho plays on the left or given a free role. Anyway, to do that we need to change our x'mas to a 4-4-2 or 4-4-1 formation.

Milan To Unleash Super Pippo Against Arsenal
Milan Coach Carlo Ancelotti is set to unleash Filippo Inzaghi in tomorrow night’s Champions League last 16 second leg against Arsenal, according to the Corriere dello Sport.
The Rossoneri welcome the Gunners to the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza confident of progressing to the next round following their first leg draw in London a fortnight ago.
Ancelotti is almost certain to field Inzaghi, given the striker’s astonishing European pedigree.
The 34-year-old is the all-time top-scorer in UEFA competition, and has hit the back of the net four times in as many Champions League appearances this campaign.
Inzaghi is renowned for performing in the big games that really matter having scored five goals in finals over the past 12 months. He scored both of Milan’s goals in last year’s Champions League final win over Liverpool, added another in the European Super Cup success over Sevilla, before hitting a brace against Boca Juniors in the Club World Cup final in December.
Ancelotti believes that the high-profile occasion of a meeting against English league-leaders Arsenal will suit Inzaghi’s big game temperament.
The veteran will start alongside Alexandre Pato up-front if, as expected, Clarence Seedorf is not passed fit.
If the Dutchman does make the game, then one of Inzaghi or Pato will drop out, most probably the Brazilian.
Alessandro Nesta, Andrea Pirlo and Kaka are all fully fit, but Emerson and Marek Jankulovski are both sidelined.

My guess for the tactic imposed by carlo is to play defensive, Aresnal will play attacking because they cant win w/o scoring. Milan will play tight defensive, if no goal draw, then proceed to extra time. I guess that is fine wiith carlo as away goal count for double.

Hoping for a miracle to happen, well nothing is for sure.. I still hope that Milan, which has always been strong in mdfield can pressure down their midifield. if we can have higher possession then we will stop them from attack. however imo i guess the midfield battle was half half, slightly more to their side. Imo. I would say that we are on par with arsenal, just that we face a team that are good at what we are poor at.
One good example was the midfield performance of the 2rd leg of Milan and Man U.
We won the midfield completely, man u cant even break past the mid.

Player Ratings: AC Milan 0 - 2 Arsenal
Carlo Garganese rates the players on show at San Siro on Tuesday night...
Kalac - 4.0: Bring back Nelson Dida! Yes seriously - an absolute shocking error on Fabregas’ goal. It was only a matter of time until the giant Aussie went back to his disaster-ridden ways, and it proved costly tonight.
Oddo - 6.0: Relatively sound display from Oddo defensively, although his crossing was very poor.
Nesta - 8.0: Absolutely brilliant. Got Kaladze out of jail on numerous occasions. If Nesta wasn’t playing tonight Arsenal would have won by four or five.
Kaladze – 4.5: Very poor, caught out of position repeatedly, Nesta did all his defending for him. Was skinned by Walcott for Adebayor’s goal.
Maldini - 7.0: Along with Nesta, the only Milan player to come out of this game with any credit. At the age of nearly 40 he put the rest of his team-mates to shame. Not the ending to his European career he was hoping for. A true legend.
Gattuso – 5.5: Gattuso does not seem to have the energy to make those biting tackles he has become famous for over the years. Age is catching up with him, although he battled hard.
Pirlo - 3.0: The worst I have ever seen Pirlo play in my life. Gave the ball away every time he touched the ball. He may as well have not been on the pitch.
Ambrosini – 5.0: Very poor along with Pirlo and Gattuso. Ambrosini was completely outclassed by Fabregas and Flamini.
Kaka – 6.0: Clearly struggling with injury. Was anonymous for most of the game, but did go on two brilliant solo runs, once in the first half and once in the second.
Pato – 5.5: His potential is without question, but he still needs to grow. Tactically did not know what positions to take up on the pitch and this damaged Milan’s shape.
Inzaghi - 5.0: His movement caused Arsenal problems in the first 20 minutes but he was starved of any service thereafter. When Seedorf doesn’t play, Inzaghi doesn’t score.
Subs: Gilardino 5.0

I believe Zambrotta is able to play till ages like Cafu and Maldini. His stamina is lacking despite his age

Gattuso doesn't seem scary with all that hair. maybe he should shave it off again.

I just realised that Milan's 3 DMs had problem keeping Arsenal out as compared to Flamini and Cesc. Maybe it's always Kaka trying to spearhead the attack and when they kept him silent, Milan lost her edge
Also, I feel that Kalac shouldn't be penalised. Dida may not have made that save either. Cesc's shot was well placed to the bottom right.

Anyone thinks that Gattuso should have tackle/foul Fab before his shot?

should have just wasted him right there.

We may have 3 dms, but it only Ambro and Gattuso doing the dirty work. Pirlo usually only tracks back to retrieve the ball and then starts the attack.

Hmmmm... True
But Pirlo though is famed for his passes and long balls, is rather apt in dispossessing the opponents. However, he is seriously underachieving this game.

for me, our best player all season is definitely:

truly deserves the armband permanently after Maldini retires.

I read in the goal.com the other time, seems like they are giving it to Gattuso.
