Trivial qn:
1) how cashless is Perth? Do most restaurants take visa/MasterCard? I try to bring as little cash as possible. What about public buses? Can use contactless credit cards? most major stores have CC.. usually car rentals and restaurants will charge admin fee for using credit card. about 1-2% more.
2) does cole/Woolsworth charge for plastic bag taken? Yes
From my various trips to Perth in the last few years, I haven't encountered any restaurant that charges a service fee for CC payment. Have only encountered the weekend/public holiday surcharges.
i usually ask if i pay cash i get discount ..... for some resturants.
yes cashless is possible but u inccur alot of foreign currency charges, unless u are using overseas friendly cc. not many sg cc have that privi. they are usually quite high end cards
woolies and coles bag they keep flip prata
see my comments in red.
Yup you need to ask the cashier if there's a surcharge.. but some ppl still don't mind paying extra..

if u gg to spend 500 in a bill ofc cc is the way to do.Thanks for the tips.
ICBC has a credit card that gives 3% rebates for overseas spend ( https://www.icbc.com.cn/ICBC/海外分行/新...iness/CreditCards/ICBCGlobalTravelMasterCard/ )
When merchants impose a 2% surcharge, and the bank/master imposed another 2%, credit card is only ~1% more after factoring 3% rebate. I think I pay very close to what money changer gives....
In places where merchant does not impose 2% surcharge, using the credit card is a clear cut better option.

I think not worth it if they cannot explore the island.
Any alternative for rottness island? Rockingham wild encounter?

Just returned from Perth.
So far the more expensive restaurants assumed that I will pay by card as they will present a pen together with the bill.
But I paid in cash as the credit card transaction fee and exchange rate is not good.
They charge 15 cents for plastic bags in supermarkets.
Do bring a bag along with you to buy things.
Departmental stores eg Uniqlo and chemists eg Chemist Warehouse give free plastic bags.
They have smart rider which is equivalent to our EZ link card but there is a non refundable $10 charge.
Since I was there only for 4 days, I didn't buy the card.
The CAT buses in the CBD are free but end early at 7pm.
The regular buses accept cash.
But the driver won't have change for large notes.
So prepare $10 or less to pay the driver.
If you are travelling in a group of 2 adults, and if you are going out of the CBD to zones other than zone 1, it is better to buy the family rider pass which is valid for 1 whole day on all public transport in all zones if it is a weekend or public holiday.
I purchased that when I went to Fremantle.
Overall, the staff are helpful and will let you know ways to save on public transportation.

Which card is ofc CC? I dun think I will spend so much in single bill except for car rental ($800)
I need to at least take one bus ride to pick up the car from bayswater.... overall I shouldn’t be traveling on bus much, so no point buy their ezlink card...
Going to Rottness on a weekend is expensive.
Ferry, bike rental and admission to the island will probably cost about $100.
Therefore I gave that a miss as I was there over the weekend.
But I heard there is discount on the ferry ride midweek and therefore may be worth a visit.
