No international flights fly to Hongqiao. Normally one would fly to Pudong and take the inter-airport shuttle to go to Hongqiao.
Otherwise make a connection in Guangzhou or any other southern hub, then board a Chinese domestic flight to Hongqiao.

Am planning to fly to Shanghai Pudong Airport and then catch a train from Hongqiao Railway Station to Suzhou and Wuxi.
What is your advice for getting to the railway station?
I've read about there being a Maglev train to Longyang Rd station, then continuing on the subway Line #2 to Hongqiao Railway Station. Is this recommended?

Many thanks! :)

It is not not recommended for you to do so. Many female tourists visit Shanghai on their own, I reckon. Chinese domestic tourists also do this.

Sure, Metro Line 2 connects the airport and train station (with or without Maglev), but there are 17 busy stations on this busy line between the 2 points.

Simply take the Airport Shuttle Bus Line 1 from Pudong Airport to Hongqiao Airport. The railway station is within 10 min walking time via a passage from Hongqiao Airport.

Shanghai is a safe and easy city to navigate. Go Tianzifang. Yuyuan, The Bund, Superbrandmall.

Depending what time you arrive at Pudong.

Bear in mind the traffic jam during peak hours. My record on the shuttle is more than 2hours on a start-stop traffic. Metro Line 2 may be busy but you are travelling from end to end, so no worries about not getting a seat.

If you want to fly SIN to Hongqiao airport, the only route is to take Cathay Pacific Airways from SIN to Hong Kong. After that, you can transfer to the DragonAir Flight from HK to Hongqiao airport.

Hope this helps.
