beijing budget hotels, those who stayed there come in!

Thinking of staying in one of those budget hotels in beijing. Such as:

http://www.bestay.com.cn

Read that its about $20+. It makes sense for me as I won't be in my room other then shower and sleep. Seems like a good deal but I'm still researching. Any more budget types along these range to consider?

Try hotel chains like 7days inn and homeinns. Personally I prefer the first one, since I am a platinum member of it

they are just everywhere in the city like KFC and McDonald's. The price is often around $30-$50 per day.

Drawbacks, you sometimes need to walk a few distance from MRT(in Beijing: subway) or bus stop to the hotel.

Oh I see the hotel you mentioned. That's also an express hotel. It should be as fine as 7days and homeinns.

如家、七天、汉庭、锦江之星、格林豪泰, they're kinda all the same. You just have to focus on the location. Have a nice trip to Beijing

I used to stay in these 3,
7
7
7

The first two are near subway line 5. First one is nearer. As to the 2nd, you have to walk about 800m to the subway. But the 2nd one is the nearest to the national stadium "bird nest" if you like it (boring place imo).. The last one is a few mins walk to Tiananmen square but it's much expensive, you can also consider it.

Of course you can search other hotels like homeinns etc.

Sleep liao

Hahaha those brands of express hotels almost cover the whole Beijing city area, even some rural places. So you can basically choose any place you like to stay. To stay near subway stations may not be the best choice but it is the safest.

Pls note that some hotels do not accept foreigners, I dont know why. You can check the service list on website to see if they 可以接待外宾。

Some hotels in China, especially the smaller 招待所, do not accept foreigners. This is more so during major events, when only designated hotels can receive foreign guests.
Note that since late last year, only holders of Chinese identity cards may patronise cybercafes. I smell controls coming for pre-paid mobile Internet services.

Thx babes. I'll continue my research b4 settling on one.

I'm quite nervous actually haha. Scenarios like people entering my room and taking all my stuff, or robbing me in the middle of the night and stuff like that.

Really, really nervous and vulnerable since I'm alone literally. these chinese budget chains have guards, cameras and they will protect us right?

Errrr you sure you are going to Beijing, not Baghdad?

Pls rest assured. Beijing is a second to none safe place in China. Something you should pay attention to are,
1. keep an eye on your pockets and bag when in bus/subway/crowded places. Some thief masters can steal your iPhone even when you're listening to the music...
2. Don't trust those who sell one-day-visit to great wall on the road. Do not buy jade/gold/silver souvenirs in any place of interest, they are 99.9% scams (T-shirts, fans and other cheap things will be good).

If you wanna take a guided tour, go to some tourist agencies (中旅、中青旅、国旅). However I don't recommand a guided tour to young travel lovers. It should be much fun to do it yourself. For example, for the great wall tour, you can try to take train S2 there (北京市郊铁路S2线, starts from Beijing North railway station, beside Xizhimen subway), normal sightseers rarely know this route.

miss Beijing already...

Oh about the budget hotel. They DO have cameras. But no guards, I remember.

Don't worry, no one wants to rob a budget hotel. I lived in budget hotels in many cities and the only embarrasing thing was some you-know-what sound from the next door.

Yeah its beijing not baghdad. I can do it!! Self-assurance!!!

Maybe a little apprehension as its my first time in beijing, I'll take it easy and hope its like shanghai then.

I always solo when I travel so no guides and stuff, lessens the opportunity to be chopped! I'm try to be highly aware in china, ya'know seeing the roads for the first time in my life is an eye-opener. My heart beat so fast and thought I will die there. So there's a certain element of excitement for me to try to keep my life..careful of robbers and bad guys.

I'm about 20 so no jades and old guys stuff, history stuff maybe ok (can't wait to visit beijing museums!).

I get the impression great wall is just one big rock and gotta climb it. Hot and boring. But I keep my options open. Leaving in May

I miss shanghai!

If not many heads accompany you when you scale up the wall, you can really enjoy the majesty of this wall. It's really impressive and a good escape from the smog in Beijing city.

Knowing the history of the wall and the age of the wall make it even more impressive.

Have a great time!
