precisely, point being made so many times yet someone still can go redeem economy then cry foul. Nobody forces you to redeem leh...you go casino and you become a addict and lost a fortune, would you complain why sg has casino? I Assume now you will although i never assume you have many miles in the first place.

Not enough miles? I understand, then save up for more or don't redeem japan trip? Is there a life threatening issue that you need to redeem a economy ticket to japan? In my post I was just wondering how come you would redeem economy if you have been an avid follower of this forum.

Anyway it is just too bad if you wanna take that tone with me and cannot accept a comment in a positive way.

SQ more and more not worth to redeem KF miles on (economy class) cuz even though the air ticket is free they whack you on the fuel surcharge.

eg. I bought recently air ticket to osaka from cathay pacific. $565 per pax all in.
same air ticket on same day to osaka on SQ is 38250 KF miles plus $380 for fuel surcharge and airport tax. Super not worth it.

Feel damn cheated cuz i have 40000 plus KF miles stuck inside SQ website which i transferred in the past from citimiles. If i change them to cash, can get $400 rebate on my credit card statement.

see bold and underlined.

If you say redeem only business class tickets, then whoever wants to redeem would need to have enough miles to redeem them in the first place. Like duhhhh. In effect you are assuming.

In fact, PM is my favourite card for cashback purposes. So,i am not complaining. I am just pointing out to people that miles are not worth it if you are redeeming economy class.

Definition of Complaining - To express feelings of pain, dissatisfaction, or resentment.

If your action was not about complaining, maybe the dictionary should be re-wrtiten for you.

And yes, i think your tone to heng_alvin was uncalled for.

anyone try using their Citi PM card or other Citi bank cards and log in internet banking and do online bill payment? Can still get the rewards/miles? seem like i receive one flyer before that mention can get miles/rewards for recurring bill payment, but i found that the FAQ section mention that rewards might not be awarded for certain online payments....

uncalled for or not uncalled for....your opinions, are your own opinions. cheers!
Guys, the PM card is in effect a 1.2% cash rebate card.

According to the T&Cs, all bill payment transactions do not earn points/miles.

I actually dislike GIRO. I have had issues whereby bank was a bit late in reversing fees and GIRO had gone through. Anyway, nowadays, it takes less than 5 minutes to pay by Internet Banking (which also forces you to go through the statement to be sure that everything is right).

Yes. Which is why it is so not worthwhile to redeam an Econ tix.

Serious? Crap.. I was still thinking whether I should continue to charge my $1,500/mth recurrence bills and insurance premiums on my UOB One card or charge it to a card that earns good KFM lol.

Have been thinking of PM cos Prudential only accept Visa/Master.. dang.

I think they were referring to bill payment through Citibank Online.

Cos, under this program, it specifically mentioned that points will be given.

Prudential is one of the participating merchants, btw. :D:D

Ohh.. thanks for the clarification man. Still considering.. Automatic 21,600KFM per year or automatic $600 cash rebate per year. Hmm..

1x Business Saver Award Ticket = 59,500KFM
1x Business Class Ticket (peak period) = $3,695.80

21,600/59,500 x $3,695.80 = $1,341.67
Takes 2.755 years excluding bonus points

OR

1x Business Standard Award Ticket = 119,000KFM
1x Business Class Ticket (peak period) = $3,695.80

21,600/119,000 x $3,695.80 = $670.83
Takes 5.51 years excluding bonus points

Which one is the correct calculation? Sorry, I'm pretty new in this :p

OK, I'm assuming that you are looking at a return trip to Japan?

Business Saver is available on most flights, but generally not available on flights operated on the A380s and 777ERs which have the 'new' Business Class. On those, you will need to use the Business Standard Award. Some have gotten Savers on the A380s and 777ERs by calling into the Call Centre or going down to SIA at Ion but it's a hit & miss (obviously you lose the 15% discount).

An alternative is to use your KF miles to book on another Star Alliance airline (such as ANA). Return trip to Japan is 70,000 miles.

Yup looking at a round trip ticket to Japan ;)

Thanks for the info though. That's really lots of saving difference vs the $600 rebate, but getting 2x business class saver tix for me and gf would take 5.51 years based on recurrence payment only (exclude other spending like shopping, dining etc). If say I pay 2 years annual fee for 20K KFM plus other spending, probably able to cut it down to 3 years?

BTW if you don't mind, how much do you charge to your cc a month and based on your exp how long do you take to chalk up 120,000 KFM?

My estimate of 3 years after bonus points for annual fee plus other spending through 10x reward cards, amex selects etc is based on approx 2.5k/mth spending.

We have about 3.5k/month spending and can chalk up the 120k in about two years.

Think I mentioned it before somewhere, but basically,

Citi Rewards - 4 miles/$ for Department stores, bags, shoes & clothes; promo till Jan 12 that petrol at Esso on Sun also earns 4 miles /$
Maybank Horizons - 4 miles/$ for EZ-link & some restaurants like Jack's Place, Iuchiban Boshi, Sushi Tei; 2 miles/$ for overseas transactions & air tickets
Amex Rewards - 3.75 miles/$ for groceries at Cold Storage & petrol at SPC for weekends
Citi Clear - 2 miles/$ at Starbucks, CBTL & bookstores
Citi PM - 1.2 miles/$ for everything else

I recently got the UOB prefered Amex (4 miles/$ for department stores, bags, shoes & clothes) to replace the Rewards card because Rewards no longer give the bonus for online shopping. But, still holding onto that for now due to the bonus at Esso.

Other cards to consider, depending on your spending patters:
Amex Platinum: ~3.96 miles/$ at their 10times partners like Harvey Norman & Tung Lok
ANZ Platinum: 2 miles/$ at IKEA, Singapore Zoo, Bird Park, Toys R Us (but need $500 of transactions in that month)
Citibank Platinum: 2 miles/$ at any supermarket (this card is no longer available to new applicants. If you have it, don't cancel it. lol)

I see that you can go to quite a lot of places with that, even to European countries.

Note that the values given are for a single way ticket. You need double that amount for a return ticket.

It also does not include the 15% discount for booking online.

Actually I use EZ Link to pay for my purchases @ Cold Storage. I link my card up to my Maybank Horizon. So 4 miles/$1 spent. AMEX Plat Charge is 7.8 miles at Platinum partners. :)
