Abundance of Uber, Grab as well as Taxi Drivers?

More than 200000 of them with at least 75% plying the roads everyday to make ends meet and feed their families.

Many of whom are SG universities graduates, some with even Masters and PhD degrees.

What don't we import cheap foreigners as drivers and free up the public-funded uni grad drivers to take up higher value creation jobs

Jobs in Singapore currently given to some 370,000 plus high salaried FTs earning an mean monthly wage of well above $4,000 in Singapore today?

PS: And we haven't talk about under-employed Singaporeans like those uni-grad selling insurance, bank products and property agents.

So characters like Yang Yin, Nisha and tens of thousands fake degrees, fake payslips foreigners possessed skills that Singapore and Singaporeans does not have?

Hmmmm, you're probably right on this count..... :s13:

PS: And by the way, PAP IB's like to indulge in the "black or white" fallacy. "Cannot replace 1000 for 1000". We are not saying no to FTs. Yes, by all means if they indeed possess skills that Singaporeans do not have.

But is this the case on the ground?

If so why are the statistics pointing the other ways?

We have the highest ever number of FTs on the island. Is the economy doing much better than ever? Achieving the highest growth and innovation rates?

Is Singapore today under LHL creating an exponential number of new jobs for Singaporeans and fresh graduates from school?

Are our fresh graduates snapped up 3, 6, 9 or even 12 months before graduation as an high-growth economy, high-value and tight labour market should be?

Are we experiencing the lowest ever unemployment rate of Singaporeans - a clear indicator of a tight labour market such that FTs need to be imported en masse to 'complement the local workforce'?

PAP supporters! Please justify this argument.

I want to hear your comments on this. Please give your "honest" explanations.

Families Ties Scheme? Orlang got what ties here

there are pple living here in decades who are still stateless

i think govt also pick and choose who to give citizenship lah...
mayb if u earn more and able to contribute to the country(income tax^^) they get approve faster

Xmm from poor family apply 11 year den can get !!

Sometimes, it really irks me when true-blue Singaporeans - born and breed here - with a genuine commitment to contribute to nation building are not even given a proper citizenship and passport.

While I have a few South Asians friends that were given university scholarships at NUS/NTU, never served a single day of national service but took up citizenship and used the red passport to hop to the US on Singapore's quota of H1-B1s...
