Exclamation Who mentored Yaw Shin Leong?

"Mentoring is a brain to pick, an ear to listen, and a push in the right direction", John C Crosby

"No such thing bad student. Only bad teacher", Mr. Miyagi, The Karate Kid.

Let's not pretend not to see the elephant in the room.

There was a facebook comment on Workers' Party facebook page:

Who highly recommended Yaw Shin Leong to serve Hougang's residents?

Who chose Yaw Shin Leong as GE candidate for WP?

Who mentored Yaw Shin Leong for 10 years?
...
Who assured Hougang's residents they will not be ABANDONED?

Picking a protege is a serious issue, especially for a party who claimed to be First World Parliamentarian, with lots of accountability and wore a blue that is whiter than white. Was it a misjudgment of character from the beginning? Was the quality of mentoring insufficient to correct certain undesirable behaviour? How could one not know and entrusted such important responsibility to the protege?

Yaw Shin Leong’s ex-boss threatened to sue him for making defamatory remarks about him at work

Posted by temasektimes on February 20, 2012

A former boss of beleaguered ex-WP MP Yaw Shin Leong has accused him of being ‘unprofessional’ and having an ‘attitude problem’ at work and even once threatened to sue him over defamatory comments he made to others!

The former rising political star of the Workers Party was sacked by his party last week following which his seat in Hougang is vacated. His current whereabouts is unknown.

Mr Yaw worked as lecturer in economics in a private school for four months in 2008. According to his ex-boss who contacted a Chinese tabloid, Mr Yaw had a strange temperament and was hard to get along.

“Yaw Shin Leong has a lousy attitude. Whenever problems arose, he would ask his colleagues to help him settle such as taking over his lesson slots. If they are Teochews, he would say ‘we are teochew ran, ka ki ran lah’ or if they are Christians, ‘we are all brothers who should help one another,” he said.

He also revealed that Mr Yaw would surf the internet on his personal laptop during working hours and would shut it immediately when somebody walked past him.

After a few months, he lodged a complaint about Mr Yaw’s behavior to the school’s principal which led Mr Yaw to retaliate in kind by spreading malicious lies about him to other colleagues to undermine his standing with them.

“He finally stopped after I threatened to sue him. Perhaps he got wind that the school is preparing to sack him and he resigned abruptly a few days later,” he added.

The ex-boss was surprised when Mr Yaw was elected as Hougang MP last year:

“I was shocked that the Hougang residents actually voted for such an irresponsible chap. He might appear to be nice and friendly to them, but he is a completely different character at work. It is as if he has a split personality.”

And after the cat got out of the bag, all we get as a quick reply was NO COMMENT. And when no comment simply wasn't enough, we saw the hammer becoming an axe. The mentor holding the axe, that is.

Bible: Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.

Webster Dictionary: Mentor defined is an experienced and trusted friend and adviser

Bob Nelson: You get the best effort from others not by lighting a fire beneath them, but by building a fire within.

It is essential that mentors be loving enough to correct (Proverbs 27:5-6) and caring enough to affirm (Hebrews 10:24).

Ok since you all dislike and think it's failure here and there and everywhere, so let's ask the co-driver LTK to decide and introduce his own ministers, LTK who is so 'good' at picking talented people since the previous 'talent' he highly recommended and nurtured for 10 years just hit recent headlines and is recently out of town.

Just a bit curious about your posts. Do you get paid doing it or is it a passion for you? What has the Government done for you that made you such a staunch PAP supporter?

While the opening post isn't a well thought out one (one that arose from a TemasekTimes article), it a little hasty to conclude that the TS is a PAP supporter, since he or she may be a supporter of other political (oppositional) parties who simply dislikes or has a habit of criticizing the WP online.

although the article is from temasektimes, which quote from the chinese tabloid, fact remains that the source of the information was from YSL's ex-employer. fact remains that YSL was selected by and specially trained by LTK.

Ok shall I convey your kind message to LHL? I do not know him, but think taking a screen shot and sending an email would not be a difficulty.
