What would be a good macro lens (Ratio 1:1) ? Does the focal length (zoom or fixed) play any part in the macro lens photo shooting performance ? The aperture (F1.8 or F2.0 or F2.8) will play an important part , correct ?

it depends what you shoot. In my opinion,

if you shoot bugs or something that needs some distance. It would be good to get something longer say in Canon's case, 180mm

if you need to shoot something that is general and on the fly, without support like tripod, etc then something in Canon's case, IS that comes with the 100mm would be good. It can also double up as a "stand-in portrait lens".

for flowers, 100mm would be sufficient.

for insects, it depends what type of insects you are shooting.
from my knowledge, a longer length (sigma 150mm? Canon 180mm?) is better
