have to say this

the criminal part etc, trust the relevant authority to investigate, charge and judge accordingly

the truth = glad to know not alone in feeling that something is very off

because never felt those songs or music video were in anyway relevant to spreading the gospel, never quite understand how singer of that sort can achieve much, top the chart etc and even famous music producers want to work with them, and never quite get it how, when doing jobs that supposedly don't pay much in religious organiztion can upgrade, and upgrade all the way to hollywood, and the rich part, not the homeless sector

finally, truth revealed, this is important

justice will prevail

the holy one will set right the wrong that has been done to him and his church

Satirical YouTube channel closed after action by pastor Kong Hee

A local YouTube parody channel ‘DiarySG’, has officially been shut down as of 10 July. The channel started broadcasting two years ago.

The channel specializes in making parody videos based on local happenings in Singapore, particularly those pertaining to the political scene and social issues.

No one has been spared DiarySG’s brand of humour, everyone from Nicole Seah to Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney and even president Tony Tan, has been given a go over by them.

According to their Facebook page, the YouTube channel, with over 800 videos, was shut down because of alleged copyright infringement filed by Pastor Kong Hee of City Harvest Church (CHC).

DiarySG supposedly received a letter from CHC asking them to cease using the Church’s material.

The day after the letter arrived, the channel officially shut down due to copyright infringement claims being filed with YouTube and its parent company Google.

In a statement released to the public, Bobby Chaw, the pastor in charge of missions at CHC expressed disappointment with some of the media's coverage so far, particularly in relation to the COC inquiry.

i seriously doubt CHC got a valid case.... cos i tot parodies are classified as "fair use" or "fair dealings" so they don't come under copyright laws...

more like i think CHC just go and complain to youtube and youtube also won't bother to verify if the copyright claims are true or not and so they just take down the videos.... DiarySG should challenge back and get youtube to reinstate back the videos...

wacky

Somebody wrote a letter to our Education Minister about CHC after seeing this blog and video.

Diary of A Singaporean Mind: This video troubles me....

CHC claims to have penetrated 70% of the schools in Singapore
If govt dun wanna come down hard on these churches, i can foresee in future, over 50% of our population will be CHC and their franchise church member, they can easily topple and control the govt to their advantage if they want to since they got majority of the sporean backing.

hai....

well did a search... got this article:
https://www.eff.org/issues/intellect...movals#dispute

quote some parts:
When you submit a dispute for a Content ID removal, the copyright owner has three options: (1) let it slide, leaving your video up; (2) sue you; or (3) send a DMCA takedown notice. For copyright owners who object to your video, and want to keep it down, the third path is generally the easiest. By sending a formal DMCA takedown notice to YouTube, the copyright owner can get your video removed again almost immediately, at which point you'll need to decide whether to counter-notice (see below). The takedown notice will also count as a "strike" on your account — after three strikes, YouTube will cancel all of your YouTube accounts and remove all of your videos. This probably explains why DMCA takedown notices are much more common on YouTube than lawsuits against uploaders — they are cheaper and faster for the copyright owner.

...

Sending a DMCA Counter-notice. Unlike a Content ID removal, if your video was taken down in response to a DMCA takedown notice, it's likely that someone took a look at it before pulling the trigger. That does not mean that your video was watched — some copyright owners may rely on keyword searches to target videos for DMCA takedowns (we don't condone this sloppy practice, but it does explain why perfectly innocent videos are sometimes improperly targeted).

So, unlike a Content ID removal, it is likely that your video was targeted for removal for a particular reason, rather than simply because it matched an audio or video fingerprint in a database. That doesn't mean the copyright owner had a good reason, only that it's likely that it had some reason.

In addition, every DMCA takedown notice that is sent regarding one of your videos counts as a "strike" on your account. If your account accumlates three strikes, YouTube will cancel all of your accounts and remove all of your videos. The only way to remove a strike is to send a formal counter-notice.

When you send a counter-notice to YouTube, you leave the copyright owner with two choices — either allow the video to be restored after 10 business days, or sue you to keep it down (the copyright owner could contact you and ask you do withdraw your counter-notice before suing, but is not required to do so). This is consequently a higher stakes game than disputing a Content ID removal, because the copyright owner does not have a cheap and fast way to keep the video down, short of suing you.
in short... the process is...
1) content owner submit content ID match to take down video...
2) youtube automatically match video and take down...
3) uploader can submit dispute to restore it...
4) content owner can then submit DMCA takedown notice again...
5) clip will automatically be taken down again
6) uploader can dispute this again...
7) content owner could attempt to sue u...or contact u to ask u to retract the dispute... else wait for 10 biz days then clip will be up again...

so let's hope that these uploaders have disputed the claims as fair use... and then after 10 days we'll get the clips back online...

here is a rather long article on fair use...
