No point asking here, because there are no actual taoists in Singapore. Most people who call themselves taoists are people who follow some ancient folk religion with taoist symbols thrown around.

They wouldn't even have read LaoTzu's book.

why not? polytheism has no restrictions on such things, since they recognised multiple divine beings. monotheism recognised only one, therefore must shun others.

churches in angmoh countries, temples in asian countries, basically done the same things when social welfare not established.

laotzu was never (religion)taoist lol.

not any book with the word tao ish taoist, not every man with mustache ish laopeh.

taoism lacks scriptures and therefore had to use a local book to cover that area and to prove their authenticity. but of cos they came up with many others later on.

People who practice "The WAY" are Taoists.

People who practice the way dun have restriction of any kind. They are free like the wind yet behave like a mouse.

Lao Tzu book of Dao de jing is a guide. Its is nothing important. As long u understand, u can dun need to read anything to be a Taoist.

Sometimes, best stick to what you know or simply stay out of things you don't know about instead of acting kay kiang all the time.
