The truth about Karma.

Human beings have a sense of fair play inherent in them. There are experiments to show that like this site.
Game Theory And The Evolution Of Fairness

However, the world is not fair. People get away with doing bad things, and people don't get rewarded with doing good things. This results in the breakdown of social order, people just do bad things all the time.

In order to comfort themselves, people come up with the concept of karma. By blindly believing that people doing bad stuff will suffer in some other way in another point of time, they feel better about their life, and is happier.

When the people do good things, they blindly believe that good things will up their score, make them feel better about things.

But of course, this is all a farce. Good people dies and suffer despite doing good, bad people enjoy life despite doing lots of bad.

However, when good things happens to good people, bad things happens to bad people, they are emphasized and confirmation bias leads us to believe in karma. So believe it, it makes you happier that some forces is tallying the good and bad things you do.
