I think those who support bringing in new citizens are born after the 90s, so they have no comparison between the peaceful life in the 80's and 90's where there are much fewer foreigners and new citizens and the place was much less crowded.

So they assume the current life is ok with all these foreigners and new citizens and the 6.9M population.

Anyway, since they welcome the foreigners/New citizens so much, they will have to sacrifice some of the things that were norm last time like cooking curry as one example and the crowdedness these days. So if they dun mind sacrificing, then I would encouraging them to start petition for 10million population to make this country more vibrant lo

actually LBR is a problem facing many developed economies now.
no one really has an answer to the problem as no matter how the economists plot their graphs, the middle class & lower class (majority) will suffer the most thanks to the inevitable aging population and rising cost of living.

that's why people say 'globalization' is inevitable as economies around the world have no choice but to inject foreigners into their population mix to bolster the aging population. otherwise, they will have to increase taxes just to take care of retirees who are non contributors to society.

next time when you see an old person in the MRT, before you give up your seat, remember that these are the lucky SOBs that you will end up supporting with your taxes when they are essentially non-contributors and had no such problem when they were your age.

Actually, just imagine, if there are no new citizens.

And our population stays the same.

what will happen to Singaporeans (e.g. our wages, and so on) in the longest run. Remember to take into consideration of geo-political factors.

When you have the answer, then think of what you will do if you're the government.

if you can have a better answer, then congratulations please run for elections siol.

Appalling, even more so if you are a Singaporean.

These elderly contributed to the nation when they were young, even if not in many ways, at least in taxes.

And it is with each and every one of them, which is why we are able to post in the comfort of our homes.

It was, and it is, not as simple as this.

We have a small resident workforce. And this workforce has to support a larger group of elderly

You have a point, but i think, i think it may possibly be stagnant or even decreasing wages for everyone, to stay competitive?

Or even possibly slowing or freezing growth, to a point like Taiwan.
And they have so much more land to utilize.
