most of them are not buying the ip4s for their own consumption. Once they get hold of the phone, they will flip it for profit by selling to 3rd party at a premium rate.

those phones will them be sold to ah tiong who are willing to pay a king's ransom for an iphone

A man urges a woman to resell a pack of five Apple iPhone 4Ss she just bought from an Apple Store in Hong Kong November 11, 2011. Hundreds of people queued up for days to buy Apple's latest smartphones officially released in the territory on Friday. Many of the new iPhones are expected to be resold in mainland China.

African nationals grab a pack of five Apple's iPhone 4S and refuse to accept the money they were offered earlier as they argue with a dealer outside an Apple Store in Hong Kong November 11, 2011. The African nationals were paid a fee by the dealer to queue for Apple's latest smartphones which are officially released in the territory on Friday, but refused the fee in order to take the iphones and resell them at higher prices elsewhere. Hundreds of new iPhones were expected to ship into mainland China for higher resale prices.

Those iPhones were bought from "professional queuers" lining up for days before the product was officially released in the territory on Friday. Many of the new iPhones were expected to ship into mainland China for higher resale prices.

Yea, tiongs are willing to pay over the odds for a lot of things globally. Carrot-heads aplenty there.

Reminds me of the Dutch Tulip Bulb buble.

One of the most famous market bubbles of all time, which occurred in Holland during the early 1600s when speculation drove the value of tulip bulbs to extremes. At the height of the market, the rarest tulip bulbs traded for as much as six times the average person's annual salary.

Apple can just ramp up production, and all these speculators will be killed. Then HK and China will have sudden surge of suicide rates.

I find it strange that Apple's unable to keep up with demand. Samsung has sold more of its Galaxy S2 phones than Apple's iPhone, and its able to keep up with the demand. It's either Apple's production lines are slower than Samsung, or Apple's deliberately doing this to keep up the hype.

How could u relate the tulip mania to iphone? eventually, the bubble burst driving many speculators to bankruptcy...

the iphone wasnt even a bubble to begin with. they are just dealers who are taking a shot at making quick money.chiu think iphone can drive people to bankruptcy?
