Zehzeh I am an adult beginner as a pianist

You sure can be self taught but isn't it better to have someone to correct your posture and fingering as these bad habits will carry on for the next few years and it might be too late to rectify

Go by traditional route, learn to read notes instead of relying on Synthesia

Probably going to be one of the more unique instruments here but I played the tuba for 3 years......back in primary school

I was picked because I was the tallest around, even taller than the boys

But honestly, I would love to pick up learning piano. In fact, I'm thinking of getting a cheap casio/yamaha electronic keyboard and just learning the skill online. But is it possible to learn to play the piano competently, as an adult, from just youtube videos?

HIGH 5!!!!!
I played the euphonium and tuba for 3 years altogether...

Would like to get my hands on a trumpet to try though~~~ cant remember how to read all the notes already.
-High fives DS back-

A fellow-tuba player! Thats rare!

When did you play those?

And this may sound really silly, but whats the difference between an euphonium and a baritone, or are they the same thing?

I recently checked out the Yamaha shop at Plaza Sing when I was in town and the price for a trumpet is approximately 2 thousand

Same here; probably forgot all the notes but I would forever remember all the fingering

Try to find videos tht has some theory inside, it'll help

musicians do not care about aesthetics. all we care about is making good music.

Learned guzheng since primary 1 all the way till secondary 3, after which I still play and practice on my own till JC. The teacher never once send me to any grading test or whatsoever, only enroll us (his students) to participate in solo competitions, make us go perform at malls or CCs during festivals etc.

Was in Chinese orchestra since primary 3 (joined CC one first, and later on joined as CCA in sec sch as well as in PAYCO) till JC1. Most of the time I play zhongruan, but during the times when I was in my sec sch CO, I will switch around to wherever needs me. For eg - I was part of the percussion group for SYF competition when I was in sec 3.

Stopped both during my JC days because studies were beginning to get more hectic. And also I've somewhat lost interest in them as well. I still like music, but I dislike the social interaction part in having to join this and that activities organised by the the committee etc. So I stopped going / attending the practice sessions.

Hey danile, hope your day was wonderful

Really? I saw your videos on the piano thread and you played so brilliantly I thought you had learnt it from a tender age! Kudos to you!

Thanks for the tips!

How long did it take you to reach your current level of competency?
