Optional Items:

* Personal Organizer: a Palm Pilot or other type of electronic organizer is preferable, but a spiral notebook-type organizer, such as a Day Runner or Franklin Planner will be sufficient for keeping your contacts and appointments organized.

* Laptop or notebook computer: a computer is valuable for keeping electronic versions of your notes, for logging onto the Internet (to visit AirlineCareer.com), and for checking email.

* Portable phone: portable telephones are helpful if you are caught in traffic and running late to an interview, or if your flight is delayed.

* Cassette recorder or memo recorder: these are useful for taking quick notes and for interview practice.

Common Errors

During an interview, there are a number of factors that can potentially disqualify you from consideration. Here are some of the most common errors:

* Poor personal appearance.
* Overbearing, overaggressive, egotistical behavior.
* Lack of goals, lack of purpose.
* Inability to relate personal qualities to flight attendant duties.
* Unable to relate real-world examples when asked behavioral-type questions.
* Lack of enthusiasm - passive or indifferent.
* Inability to listen to the interviewer; too focused on how you are going to respond.
* Making derogatory remarks about a previous employer.
* Overemphasis on compensation.
* Bad body language.
* Concerns over relocation.
* Lack of tact, maturity, courtesy.
* Evasive, making excuses for unfavorable factors in work history.
* Inability to maintain a conversation, poor communication skills.
* Lack of commitment.
* Failure to ask questions about the flight attendant position.
* Unable to make a commitment on a training start date.
* Very little knowledge about the duties and responsibilities of a flight attendant. (see Duties and Responsibilities section)
* Persistent "What can you do for me?" attitude.
* Lack of preparation - no knowledge of the airline, resulting in an inability to ask intelligent questions.

Good Luck!

I noticed Air steward and stewardess are usually very handsome/pretty.............

Do they very much in particular with your looks? I have 2 friends whom are working as air-steward and both very handsome.....

Also what is the personal life of this career like? Is it very much that there are many affairs between the staff? Because it gives me the feeling, Yes.............maybe like air-stewardess and pilots affair etc.

Just like in bank sales line, you can find many of the lady executive having affair with their customers.........

Lastly this is something im also not know till now, what is actually the starting pay around of an air stewardess and their career path any good? or is it just a short career........

I.E What do you be if they promote you? or you stay as a air steward forever???/

Nope not true. Not all crews are very good looking .In fact i have seen alot of average looking ones but its just personalities that shines so that is why they were chosen . I feel that in this line you need to have a strong grasp of languages becuase your interaction with the passengers are very high and you need to understand what are they talking abt and they need to understand you also. Yes appearance wise its quite important , you have to be at least clean and neat after all its a service job.

Basic pay for SQ is 1.2k i believe n you get to earn around 3.5 k after all the flying allowances . Depends on where u fly the more u fly the more you earn . It can go as high as 4k .I think SQ is gonna decrease the flying allowance and increase the basic pay . Basic pay for Emirates is 1.5K, Basic pay for Tiger is 800 bucks . The other airlines like Qatar , Jetstar , Silk Air , JAL, Etihad im not very sure lol.

To other people its just a short career because you can only fly that long . Most of the times they will work for 2 years then they quit and in between they will save money for their studies. Not sure about promotion wise but i think SQ stewardess is more easily promoted than the stewards. Path career wise , i guess there are alot of job opportunities in service industries like hotel etc .
