BF3 is a very GPU intensive game. What is the resolution that you intend to game at and what frame-rates are considered "decent" to you. Typically you would want to a 560m at least to be able to handle battlefield 3 at full HD and medium settings with a nice consistent frame-rate.

At that resolution and budget. your options are rather limited.

You can check out the performance chart for laptop gpus ate notebookcheck.com under the computer games on laptop graphics card section. At medium settings, the bare minimum gpu you would want to have is either the geforce 555m or the AMD 7690m. Even then these cards get framerates around the 30-35 mark. A 560 would be more suitable but it fits in a bigger notebook only that is likely out of your budget. However, if your not in a hurry, i would wait for a notebook with the 650m. Which would have better performance in my opinion and worth the wait.

He stated that his budget is 1200-1600. If i'm not wrong the m14x is above the budget range he mentioned. The 640m and the 650m are already starting to appear in laptops. As for the ivy bridge notebook processor. It would be great but as long as you have an I5 and above as mentioned by the poster below, your setup will not be bottlenecked by your processor.
