Thought this thread is about Asus GTX 1080...how come there's info on MSI GTX 1080 too? Confusing, confusing.... ;)

Don't bother about that dragon thing, because Asus will always be lumber huan!

I believe local MOQ is not an issue...

Its the allocation ba.....Eg: Local distro can ask for 100pcs but when ship over to local...only 10pcs...

10pcs not even enough for local retailer shops in SLS.

Singapore is just a tiny red dot.....manufacturer heck care about the market share here.

So, the Strix 1080 is the OC version right? It better be, as HWZ reported so.
Secondly, where and when can I pre-order this bad boy?

Yes it is OC version. And there are currently no pre-order plans for this.

First time encounter non-Ti GPU have to cough up more than 1K. Think about it, the cost of that ROG can buy 2 PS4s with enough change for 3 games gosh...

Its not like you can get the same performance even if you can xfire 2 ps4 together.

A console is simply a console. A 270x performance vs a 1080 which is like so far away.

Might as well say you buy the r9 270x now is just at $250. I can buy 2 of it for the price of 1 console.

Saying so doesn't mean I'm protesting, relax lol! Just stating the facts. I'm upgrading from 2x GTX780s to 2x GTX1080s. In the words of young Indiana Jones - "You may lose, but you don't have to like it". Btw I don't have a console.

Waiting to see how the MSI X Gaming will be priced compared to the ROG Strix, the Gigabyte G1 already quoted at similar-to-FE $1,188. There is certainly a premium to pay for the 3 giants. Have always liked the ROG series though.

There is always a price premium for Asus Strix.

I think I read somewhere that Asus pride themselves for the better cooling solution than on the FE version. So they are pricing this above the RRP of the Founder's Edition. Let's see if the others follow suit. Till now, I think the pricing premium on the FE version is unjustifiable in the first place. Why would AIB partners produce something more superior, yet forced to sell USD 100 bucks cheaper?

The matter of the fact is that in US, Asus Strix non oc cost $619.99 usd vs the FE $699 usd. Also, the EVGA lowest tier version cos $619.99 usd.

Its the markup from varies party the causes the card to become $1.2k plus when reaching our shores. Should be around 1054 sgd as per the 1.7 rate mark up like the FE version.

Now our option is to either

1) $1239 or less for non oc version with local warranty
2) $900+ (after 7% gst) at amazon/newegg but rma overseas for warranty. For this better get EVGA* Rma Taiwan.

Its US$680 on newegg (excl. shipping) for the strix 1080 oc version, which is what we are getting.
