The file system is corrupted. Do you have a recovery disk hanging around ? Can use that to boot into the command line and try

Chkdsk /r
Or
Fixboot

The 250GB HDD is the main suspect, if you have another known good spare drive, change the failing HDD.

Have you did any bios reset recently or CMOS battery change??
have you tried changing the SATA mode from IDE to AHCI mode & tried?

Your E drive is having cyclic redundancy error. The system has change to RAW.
Do a check disk on your E drive. It should fix the problem.

Your disk is being recognized as ntfs system now. Reboot your PC and copy out your important if you can see the files.

You may also consider using data recovery software to recover your important files.

Do a full reformat AFTER you've copied all your important files. The full format may take as long as overnight and may uplorry during the process.

Spent the last evening doing full format/reinstall windows 7, in the process encountered other issue again.

Couldnt install my onboard VGA driver from MB's driver disc, it prompted error. And so im stuck with 1280x1024 resolution(using Dell ultrasharp U2412M).

Thinking i could probably get the onboard VGA driver from windows update, so i proceeded to windows update.

But, windows update could not be started, it was stuck at "checking for update" for very long time.

anyone has got any idea on how to solve the windows update issue?

did google a little, tried changing my DNS to google DNS server, applying security update - KB3102810 etc... but doesnt solve:(

do u have a laptop or another pc? go download the software for your system esp the LAN driver. copy to a thumbdrive and install on that pc.

my windows 7 update took about 8 hours 46 mins to check for updates alone... downloading and installation of windows update took about 3 hours... (ps this is on a ssd, hdd might be even slower)

but i think u can try this method instead (for a faster update)

summary of the article:

1) ensure you are on windows 7 service pack 1
2) install a "servicing stack update"
3) install the "convenience rollup update"
4) because the rollup is until may, install the july rollup also (they combined june and july together june rollup has been superseded by july rollup, if i am not wrong, this means they combined both june and july together)
5) finally, install the august rollup

idk if u need to but update the windows update also if u want

at the time of posting, i couldnt find september rollup, probably because it hasn't been released, but i think u can check for updates via the windows update very fast and smooth (ok not that fast but at a more acceptable speed/time)
