I am looking to build a new pc to take over m y existing pc which is about 8 years old - alot of games cannot play liao. After reading up, below are the items that i shortlisted and my budget quite tight at 1.4k.

CPU+MB: Intel Core i5-6600 + gigabyte H170-D3H
RAM: Kingston 8Gb
GPU: Undecided, looking at GTX970. (any difference with GTX960?) Zotac/Palit/Asus is the cheapest but not sure whether it is noisy and its cooling system is good? If not looking at Gigabyte but looks exp.
SSD: Samsung EVO 850 250GB - will grab this from lazada
PSU: FSP Hexa+
Case: Undecided yet
Windows: Win 7 / 8 pro 64bit so that i can upgrade to Win 10

Need some advise?

Depends. List all games you intend to play so the resident rig recommenders have something to work with.

Any preference for colour scheme? E.g. Black with White/Red/Blue/Green/Gold/etc…
Need any of these?

Windows
Monitor
Speaker
Keyboard
Mouse
WiFi adapter

PC to be placed on table or floor?
Which internet provider plan and router are you using now?
Is your home in a relatively new apartment built in the past 8 years?
How far is your upcoming PC located from the router?
Any obstruction between router and PC’s path?

What is the actual differences between Gigabyte GA-B150M-D3H and the H170?
Palit GTX 970 4GB JetStream -> any particular reason why this is choosen? just for my understanding

I would want the pc to last for quite a while

B150 > H170, more USB 3 ports and M.2 support which is not really useful....

Palit JetStream performs decently, matches the initial theme and also one of the cheapest.

Another question comparing msi and gigabyte mobo. I have used Asus and gigabyte mobo before but not msi as I heard bad things on it. Is it on part with the rest?

GPU: ASUS GTX 970 4GB Turbo OC @ $460* -> how you calculate this price?
