Hi guys, i'm looking to buy a diy set under 1k from SLS. Picked out 3 from the pricelists online:

Cybermind ($999):
I3-6100
Win 10 Home
B150M-A/M.2
ASUS ROG RX460/R7 370
8GB DDR4 Kingston/Crucial 2133 Ram
Intel 540 120GB SSD
Fulmo-Q Chasis
Silverstone ST50F-ES230 500W
ASUS 24X DVD-RW
ASUS WIRELESS N Adaptor

Fuwell ($997):
Asus B150 Pro Gaming + Intel i3-6100 3.7G
Kingston 2133Mhz DDR4 (4GB x 2) 8GB
Asus GTX950 2GB Dual Fan DDR5 Graphic
Samsung 750 EVO 120GB SSD
Seagate / WD Blue 1TB SATA3 Harddisk
Asus 24X DvD-Writer SATA
Enermax Fulmo Q + Thermaltake Litepower 550W
Logitech MK100 Wired Desktop (K/B + Mouse)

Infinity ($995):
Intel i3-6100 3.7GHz 6th Gen Processor
Asus H170 Pro Gaming Mainboard GigaLan/Audio
Asus GTX950 OC 2GB GDDR5
Kingston DDR4 2133 8GB Ram (4GB x 2)
Samsung 750 EVO 120GB SSD
Asus 24X DVD+-RW
Corsair Carbide Spec-01 USB3/Fan x 1
Xigmatek Tauro 600W 80+ Bronze PSU

On paper it seems that Cybermind offers a better deal; especially with the inclusion of win10. However, I have only ever bought small stuff at SLS so I don't really know the reputation of these shops well. Given a choice which one would you get? I am also open to other shops that I've missed.

I foresee running some work related simulations on the computer GPU for long periods (Bayesian MCMCs). I will also share the computer with my brother who games often, though I only see him on CSGO and Dota 2.

You can easily squeeze in a 1060 or 1070 for under 1k budget. That 1k price tag bundle with a Gtx 950 gpu is not very nice. Cannot really play AAA games or some graphics demanding games at good FPS and enjoyable FPS.

Suggest you don't get all the 3 above and squeeze in a 1060 or 1070 gpu for your rig with either i3 6 gen or i5 6 gen cpu if budget allows.

Thanks for the tips. I understand it's always cheaper to build your own but I lack the experience;i also want a warranty if possible :p will check out videopro on qoo10 as recommended.

You can choose parts yourself and write it down on your mobile. Then just show it to pc themes or tradepac let them build it for you also can ma. All parts comes with warranty.

You buy the 3 bundle kind is really not worth it.

there isn't any "shop warranty" even if you buy the "set meal" from them .... they build for you only guarantee it working condition when it leave the shop +the next week

any individual part failure would still need to bring that specific part to distributor

Don't get any of the above specs, not future proof enough neither are you maximising your budget.

I will try to squeeze in a 1060 3GB and i5 if possible.

The thing is, I am not really sure if I need an expensive gpu for my brother or my own needs. If I could save some $ I was thinking of getting a bigger ssd or a better cooling setup (case or water cooling)

well i just did a quick search on this bayesian MCMC its seems like u need a good processing power just to run the simulation. (not sure how good)

anyway i roughly run through the search of it requirement but no results..
so im not sure if those consumer pc is enough horse run for your simulation.

just get a better processor for ur needs and your brother games is cpu dependent, gpu can get GTX 1050 ti also can. but of cos im not sure if your simulation is it require both cpu or gpu processing power or just cpu power.
