got burnt metal smell.. issit gpu up lorry?

I have this problem when I play metro station only the rest of the map I don't have this problem... I also don't know why too...
My gpu is 4870. |

To be honest, it can be anything in your comp that has overheated. If your graphic card is so hot, I am sure its going to be really hot in the case. If you wanna know if you graphic card is damage as a result of overheating, I think you should be able to smell it on the card. Just monitor the temps first.
