hi there, i have been thinking of upgrading to a newer platform lately and really liking what Ryzen ThreadRipper 1900x has to offer (64 PCIE Lanes, faster RAM Speeds and cheaper compared to other options)

But heres where i run into some problems. The Motherboard i am looking at , ASUS ROG ZENITH EXTREME x399, doesnt seem to support TR4 1900X chip.
i am mainly looking at ASUS boards since i have had a pretty good run with their motherboards.my only option left is to go with ASUS ROG STRIX x399-E which so far is no where to be seen yet.

does anyone here know why doesnt the ZENITH EXTREME board support the TR4 1900x Chip?

What do you need all the PCI-E lanes for? Why "only" 8c16t on a Threadripper?

mainly trying to run the 1080 ti sli in 16x/16x mode, and i believe my current setup is seriously lacking the pcie lanes department.
and also for the pcie lanes, i thought might as well go for TR4 since its the most logical ones(price/features) wise.

I don't think you'll notice a difference between x8/x8 and x16/x16 for sli gaming. It's high end render farms that would gain more

Oh thats great to hear! i was really concerned coz i couldn't pair it on PCpartpicker website and was told they wouldn't work according to Asus upon asking on their forums.

and also this image is from another forums under zenith board, apparently someone from asus support told him they wouldn't work together.

But let me give you a heads up first.

The Zenith has cold boot post issues for rams that are not at default 2133mhz.

Its a bios bug that has yet to be fixed.

What happened was, if you set it above 2133mhz, it will double boot. Meaning to say the first time it boot, the moment it did not detect the default speed, it will turn off again and retry. Then only it will boot up as per normal.

There is no fix for now but waiting for a new BIOS update.

Also note that 1900x can be a boring cpu. Lol you cant overclock much. Cause of its high base clock at 3.8ghz, sync all cores at 3.9ghz lol. Which imho most ryzen chip needs to oc to get to this speed.

The boost is interesting. It can hit 4.1 to 4.2ghz on most of the cores. Which imho rox lol. More to share with you later.

When you enable game mode where it will use only half of the dies where it will essentially become a 4 core 8 thread CPU, does the gaming performance become more like Intel's or Ryzen's 4 core 8 thread CPU?

Just go 3200mhz if you can afford. Cause i have tested a few beta BIOS after 0503, it seems to work just fine. They have patched it.

Yes for 1900x the option will be given to disable 0 cores or 4 cores.

Finally after some tuning. Setting the BCLK to 100.00000 instead and shave a little bit more on Vcore to now 1.308v. 4.1Ghz 2666Mhz 12-13-13-13-31. Update to the latest 21/9/17 BIOS 0603.

And smash through Cinebench scores of 1812! Woot never been happier :o
