I am planning to upgrade my gaming comp. I have some existing parts which I plan to reuse. Do you think the rig is ok for gaming? Mainly using for BF4 and future games.

i7 4790K
MSI Z97M Gaming
2 x 8GB Avexir DDR3 1600 (Red LED)
2 x MSI R9 290 Gaming 4GB (bought a 2nd hand card from vr-zone so going to CF the 2 cards)
4 x Plextor M6 Pro 256GB SSD (Reusing)
1 x Seasonic Platinum 1000W PSU (Reusing)
Going to Water cool my CPU and GPU (Reusing Existing WC stuff)
1 x Corsair Carbide Air 240 Casing
23" Philips 1080 Monitor (reusing)
Logitech 2.1 Speakers (reusing)
KB + Mouse (reusing)

So I will be basically just buying a new CPU, mainboard, RAM and casing.

Do you think the config will be enough for gaming at 1920 x 1080 at highest settings? I am just a bit worried about the graphics card. Not sure if it can cater. Also the RAM, 16GB is enough or do I need 32GB?

For board, do I need those high end ones like Asus ROG board or the MSI gaming one will do? Just going to do mild overclocking to 4.6GHz

If you are only gaming on 1080p why you need to upgrade?

All your current parts are more than good enough for every game ultra at 1080p. I don't think you need to change anything.

The reason is that my board died. So I am thinking might as well upgrade to HAswell.

If you have 2x R9 290, and you only intend to game on 1080p, my best budget advice for you is to get a MSI B85-G43M + I5-4460, 2x4gb 1600mhz ram and sell off 1 of your GPU. You don't really need to crossfire or 16gb of ram to achieve high/ultra settings on 1080p with a single 290. Waste of electricity.

in 2-3 years time, single gpu also better than his 2x 290 crossfire already

By then, then change lor.... at least his gpus can tahan till then and he had utilised fully his $12xx gpu.

He change now, he will lose out a lot.
