Misleading. That depends on which GTX 1060 you referring to. 3GB version only got 90% CUDA cores of GTX 1060 6GB. 3GB version is only about a GTX 970.

And yes, unfortunately more CUDA cores and wider memory bus is paramount. GTX 1060 3GB will be your best bet since 6GB version is about a $100 more expensive....
