i read some post saying that SLS is cheaper.

but for me, i think $55 is ok and with the $5 coffee bean voucher. its only $50.

and i remember that the posts mention that SLS selling at $49. so, not much diff.

Both should be the same earphones but different cord design. The cheaper one is the normal neck chain one. The more ex is those that you can hang your player on your neck.
Thanks again.

OMG! Your review of the E888 sounds too gd liaoz.
But hor, anyone know if there are any chances of finding the Made in Japan pair instead?

E888 review up.

Thanks afbug1!! Excellent review, which now gives me confident to go out and buy MDR-888 tomorrow. 100 hours break-in time? Hmmm... seems I should connect it to my home system and play for 5 hours daily for about 2 weeks. Thanks again!

The E888 is only effective in quiet environments. Outdoors, its SQ will suffer, you'll be better off with some in-ears. Unless you manage to find some attachments like Griffin's Earjams to convert it into an in-ear. But i dunno if it will fit a E888 and SQ will be affected.

Japan pair in SG? lol! Virtually impossible to buy 1st hand these days. Your best bet is a 2nd hand pair. Even the E888SP version is hard to get, let alone a Japan pair. If i'm not wrong, those avaliable now are made in philippines or china.

But you can try your luck in Tokyo's electronic district, might be able to find one.

Before you go and buy one, i have to remind you that my tastes and opinons differ from some. It might not please you. And given iPod's lower bass output, it might sound a bit thin. Unless you use it with a Shuffle or 5G iPod.

I do not have a pair of EX51 or have a friend that uses one. From what i read from ilounge and headfi, it is almost the same as EX71. Some thinks its slightly inferior than EX71. So i think it is no point in doing one. A EX81 will be different thou but i can't lay my hands on one.

oh yah bug! have u tried the Sony earbuds with Cresyn?
Yes, tried before. More comfy but the Sony tips seals outside my ear, thus making the Cresyn stick out more. If i use Cresyn's smallest tip, i can jam them in all the way till the earpiece's stem/barrel is touching my ears. Looks nicer but more uncomfy.

There should be a slight change in sound but i din listen long enough to be able to descibe or detect cos i prefer to use Cresyn's eartip.

oh... imo, ex51 is much better den ex71... the mid and high is more define den ex71... as for the bass, it less hush den ex71... overall i'll rate it 3.5 base on ur 2.5 for ex71

Just bought my MDR-888LP from Funan Sony Showroom. Only one piece was left. 79 bucks. The sales girl said there is no warranty for earphones. So, checked it right away. Will go home and check with my iPod! By the way, it says that it was made in Philippines.

I was there yesterday. Gold one displayed at top right hand corner right?

How does it sound off the box? Does it goes well with your ipod?
