UM2 vs Westone 2

I have been using the UM1 for the past year and am looking for a upgrade. That is why I am looking at the UM2 and the Westone 2.

What are the main differences between these 2 IEMs? Anyone using these 2 IEMs has any comments or recommendations?

BTW, the genre of music I listen to is R&B.

I believe the UM2 is marketed for professional musicians (read: flat frequency response) while the Westone 2 is marketed towards the general consumer.

I'm not sure if the difference in crossovers is only between the Westone 3 and the UM3X or between the UM2 and Westone 2 too.

Westone series have more more bass than the um series, although i find um series have more detail and clarity. choose your pick

Sound wise I find the westone 2 clearer but the UM2 warmer. you should just audition them yourself.

I remember the um2 is made in usa while the westone 2 is made in china....

Sound aside, I prefer the fit for UM2 though. I think the nozzle for UM2 is longer.

um2 sounds flat with a great roll-off or near missing treble, n muffled in between de mid n low but smoother den w2. sounds richer.

w2 sounds liver, colder, punchier in bass, airy in soundstage, n poor seperation at a certain loudness onwards. sounds thiner.

which is wider in soundstage, cant rmb.

Hope your customs come back soon

I would go along with the UM2 for you TS. It's warmer, much more detailed and gets well-controlled tight thumping bass for your needs.
